BNotes in different forms
Do you have trouble stretching your dollars? How about trying another currency instead?
Since December of 2011 a new form of currency titled BNotes, has been circulating through Baltimore City.
BNotes were created to encourage citizens to “buy local”…thus helping local businesses and residents.
Here’s how it works…Anyone can go to local cambios (money exchanges) to add BNotes to their wallets or purses. Then, just shop at one of the over 130 Baltimore based businesses that accept the BNote (a network that is expanding every week).
After BNotes have been used to make a purchase at a Baltimore establishment, instead of leaving the city, this currency will stay in the local system.
In theory, the local cash could spark economic growth and provide new jobs for unemployed Baltimoreans, develop reliable local supply chains, and bring a stronger sense of community to Charm City.
The Baltimore Green Currency Association (BGCA) is the program responsible for the Creation of BNotes. The BGCA is a nonprofit group made up volunteers with a common goal of providing economic opportunity to local businesses.
They accept and are thankful for all donations sent their way… in BNotes preferably!
