This is a paid undergraduate position. Dr. Shaun Kane from the Department of Information Systems is seeking motivated undergraduate students to help develop new interactive technologies.
Project: Work with Dr. Kane and other students to construct a working touch screen-based tabletop computer, similar to the Microsoft Surface. Help to develop construction plan, acquire materials, assemble hardware, configure software, and test the system.
Skills Required: Basic experience with installing and configuring computer software is required. Experience with computer programming,computer hardware, and woodworking are are a plus, but are not required.
Time Commitment: Up to 10 hours per week with a total of 60 to 80 hours per semester. Flexible work hours with mandatory weekly supervisory meetings and periodic project-group meetings.
Expected Duration: This project will begin in the fall 2011 semester, and may continue for the spring 2012 semester.
Eligibility: This offer is open to undergraduate students who are in their first 4 semesters at UMBC.
