The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) will accept more than 100 undergraduates in STEM fields for an 11-week paid research fellowship in summer 2013. All UMBC students must apply through the university. If you would like to apply, notify Janet McGlynn (mcglynn@umbc.edu) NOW so that you receive important information. The first NIST-related workshop will be in November.
NIST is a very prominent national research facility located in Gaithersburg. They provide (very nice) housing for the 11-week program. The program includes mentored, hands-on research, professional development, and the opportunity to work with 100 or more students like you from all over the country. Students in any science, programming, engineering, or math field would be appropriate for this program. Requires citizenship/permanent resident status and a GPA of at least 3.0
