Senator/Finance Board Representative Application For Spring 2014

Senators are elected by students during the May election. Due to vacancies we are looking for enthusiastic students to fill open positions for the Spring of 2014 We are looking to hire a Senator and a Finance Board Representative.

Senators:

-Foster open communication with the student body
-Represent the student voice to different parts of the UMBC community
-Take actions to improve our campus
-Take a stance on issues relating to any matters including, but not limited to, policies and practices at UMBC

Senators are required to:

-Attend the Senate meetings at 5:30pm on Monday's in Commons 318 (the meetings usually run for 3 hours)
-Develop comprehensive initiatives that reflect undergraduate student needs and concerns within the campus community
-Serve on university shared-governance committees
-Spend 5-6 hours/week to fulfill these and other responsibilities

Finance Board Representatives:

-Work with the other Finance Board members to allocate student activity fees to student organizations
-Be a representative of the UMBC undergraduate student population
-Utilize student activity fees to enhance the experiences of UMBC undergraduate students

Finance Board Representatives are required to:

-Attend the Finance Board meetings at 5:30 PM on Tuesdays in Commons 318
-Read/Edit weekly meeting minutes
-Send e-mails to student organizations regarding the outcome of their allocation requests

The deadline for the application is Tuesday, December 31st at 11:59 PM. Applicants under consideration will be contacted for an interview.
