- You may arrive to the quad to begin setting up at your assigned table between 11am - 11:45am on Wed 9/3. Since you already what section your table is in, there will be no on-site check-in. For any questions or concerns please stop by the yellow info tent where Student Life Staff will be available to help!
- Involvement Fest ends promptly at 3pm so please begin to pack up your table and throw all trash away a few minutes before then.
- Each organization is pre-assigned a full table. Please only set up at your designated table. All tables will be labeled for your convenience. Please do not move the labels.
- If you signed up to perform you will be contacted in a separate email next week
- Tips for a successful table: Limit current members to 2-3 at a time to prevent new students from being overwhelmed. Have colorful poster boards, pictures, & things that will draw attention. Explain the benefits of joining your organization and share what you're all about!
First year studentsAs we welcome new students to campus the first few weeks of school please keep in mind we don't want them to be overwhelmed! We want them to focus on attending Welcome Week events and then transition into student organizations and other campus activities & opportunities! For this reason we're only allowing tabling and campus events to begin after Involvement Fest.Room reservations
Message from Event and Conference Services (Commons 335):We're excited for your return to campus and another amazing year of events. We kindly ask for your patience during the first few weeks of the semester due to the historically high-volume of requests that we receive and process during this time. We will process your request as quickly and efficiently as is possible.
SGA/Funding Updates
- Allocation Request Process and Treasurer Training will both be online this year! The online Treasurer Training learning module and online Allocation Request Form will be made available by August 25th. An email containing the link to the learning module will be emailed to all student organization leaders on this date. Student orgs are unable to apply for/spend funds unless their treasurer completes the online training.
- The first Finance Board meeting will be Tuesday September 2nd in Commons 318.
- T-shirt funds: Anthony will be sending out t-shirt fund applications on August 27th. They're due on Oct 2nd. Please note that free T-shirt funds are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Green Paw Fund. The Green Paw Fund is a $8,000-fund that has been set aside for organizations to "encourage students to have environmentally friendly events by offsetting the additional costs associated with these events." The Green Paw Fund supports the purchasing of compostable materials, recycled paper, and other "green" products for student organization events during the academic year.
- For any questions regarding funding please contact SGA Treasurer: Anthony Jankoski, anjanko1@umbc.edu.
Exciting Volunteer Opportunity
Message from: Nona Carroll:
Rarely do you find an opportunity to impact the lives of young people while getting the opportunity to network and develop workforce skills. Well, today, you have the chance to do both while encouraging 8th – 9th grade Maryland students to strive for higher academic achievement, prepare for college, and begin thinking about their career aspirations. We are looking for volunteers to join a coalition of more than 3,000 student and workforce volunteers to bring middle and high school students the message that achievement in school will pay off in college, the workplace and in life… through the Maryland Scholars Speakers Bureau program. Please consider being a member of the speakers bureau, while urging your organization members and peers to join us in a classroom this up-coming school year. You can learn more about the program and register to speak at www.thestemnet.com/speak. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me: Nona Carroll, Program Director , Maryland Business Roundtable for Education, 5520 Research Park Drive, Suite 150, Baltimore, MD 21228, Office: 410.788.0333

Constitutions can be found on each student organization contact page on the Student Life website. Once you're on your org page, click on the word "constitution" in orange. If your organization requested to have your constitution hidden please contact Sara Leidner, sleidner@umbc.edu to obtain a copy. Your constitution outlines how your organization operates. All student orgs have elections either the end November or end of April. As election season approaches, an email reminder will go out to all officers.
