New York Applications Due FRIDAY!
Apply for our NMUN NYC conference team!
The deadline for applications for UMBC's delegation to the Spring 2024 NMUN-NYC conference (April 1st-April 5th) is soon! The application can be found here, and is due by Friday, December 1st. Many details about payment, other deadlines, and general activities can be found in the application.
We love any and all skill levels in Model UN, and we are by no means an exclusively "Political Science" club, so please do not feel intimidated by the prospects of being on the team just because you are faithful to another major.
We hope to take a select delegation of you to a very special conference. Hosted by NMUN, this international conference will take place in New York City from April 1st-5th, and we will return on April 6th. During the conference, universities from around the world send thousands of young delegates to New York for the week in hopes that they successfully arrive at mock resolutions to the world's most pressing issues, as mediated by a simulation of various bodies of the United Nations. Spread over 5 days, these committee sessions will be complemented by lots of free time in NYC to (safely) roam, eat great food, and make new friends. The week will end with the conference renting out a club in Manhattan for the "delegate dance". Yes, it's fun.
In order to assess who we would like to bring to this conference to represent UMBC Model UN, we have created an application for the team. Everyone (including vets and e-board members) who wishes to be considered for the team must fill this application out. If you have applied in the past, this application will look very similar. This application is due by December 1st, at 11:59pm. We hope to have the team picked and notified of their status by 10pm on Friday, December 8th.

If you do not receive an email by that time, do not be discouraged. We only have around 12 slots, and often get around 50 applications, so we have to be pretty selective.

1-hour meeting per week, the day/time of which is decided based on the team's collective availability, until we attend the conference. Should you choose, you may be registered for the 1-credit, upper level Political Science elective course,
POLI384L. This "class" will be taught by myself, with some occasional assistance from our e-board.

We hope to have the team picked and notified of their status by 10pm on Monday, February 6th (the following day). If you do not receive an email by that time, you unfortunately did not make the team.
Model United Nations (MUN) is an intellectual sport which brings together thousands of students in an attempt to simulate the activities of actual UN organs/agencies while at conferences. At conference, you will meet thousands of other students from across the nation and the world (some of these people become lifelong friends), and become exceptionally skilled at public speaking, internationally oriented research, diplomacy, and problem solving.

Thursday (9/8): 3-3:45pm in PUP206 (DONUTS!!!)
Friday (9/9): 3-3:45pm in PUP206 (MORE DONUTS)
or Wednesday (9/14): 12-12:45pm in PUP206 (...still donuts)
Also, come see us at iFest on Erickson Field this Friday (9/9) from 12-2pm under the Intellectual Sports banner! Give us your email so we can keep you in the loop!
Our team applications will be released shortly after iFest on Friday (9/9), and will be due the following Friday night (9/16) at 11:59pm. General Body Meetings will be every two Wednesdays from 12-1 (location TBD), and DC Team Meetings will be weekly on a day/time that is coordinated in consideration of each team member's time constraints.
