New Executive Board Give a hearty welcome to your 2013-14 Mock Trial leadership!
Good Evening Everyone!

As most of you are already aware, tonight was the UMBC Mock Trial elections for the 2013-14 executive board. I would like to personally congratulate Mikey, Travis, Kyle, and Cheyenne for your newly earned positions of leadership. It's really encouraging to see that we have some returning leadership as well as some new leadership!

I have updated the "Members" section of the UMBC Mock Trial "myUMBC Group" to reflect the newly selected "officer" roles.

Thank you all so much for a great year. It was truly a wonderful experience to serve on the executive board for the past two years. I am happy beyond words to welcome such a capable and motivated group of members to lead the UMBC Mock Trial team to continued success in the next academic year.

Good morning everyone!

I hope everyone is having a great first day back at school! I just wanted to take the time to congratulate each and every member of both the "A" and "B" teams on a wonderful performance at invitationals this past weekend. Here is a brief summary of how the teams performed:

"A" Team @ Georgetown:
  • One win, one loss v. Howard University
  • Two wins v. University of Chicago
  • Two losses v. University of Michigan
  • Two losses v. University of California, San Diego
...for an overall record of 3 wins and 5 losses.


"B" Team @ Georgetown:
  • Two losses v. Villa Nova
  • One loss, one tie v. Patrick Henry "A"
  • One win, one tie v. Wake Forest
  • Two wins v. Stevenson
...for an overall record of 3 wins, 3 losses, and 2 ties. (I believe this information is accurate, but feel free to correct me if I messed anything up!)

Overall, both "A" and "B" teams had a very solid mixture of team skill levels. Regardless of wins and losses count, the most important thing is that everyone got to see some really strong teams and strategies, as we continue to prepare for Regionals in Baltimore (in just two weeks!). Keep in mind your strengths and continue to work on your weaknesses. I look forward to seeing you all at tonight's meeting.

I hope you are all enjoying the last few days of summer!! Be sure to be on the lookout for an e-mail from me with all of the information regarding auditions. The executive board is planning to finalize all of the details on Monday evening so that I can get an e-mail out to the team on Tuesday before all of the first-day madness begins!

I hope you have all been reading through the case and getting an idea of what roles you will be interested in playing! You should also begin to look through the Midlands Rules of Evidence posted in the documents section, particularly if you plan on auditioning to be an attorney.

We're still working through some minor logistical issues in getting a room for the informational meetings and auditions. As soon as we know where those events will be occurring, we'll let you know.
