Japanese Student Association (JSA) GBM: Teru Teru Bozu

Good Evening Everyone!
This week we will be holding a GBM on Teru Teru Bozu! Come drop by to learn the history of these curious ghost dolls from Japan, as well as make one for yourself during the meeting (supplies will be provided, but feel free to bring your own markers if you'd like)! We will be in SHER 006, 2:30pm-3:30pm on Wednesday Oct 27th.
In addition, we will also be celebrating Halloween early this week on Wednesday Oct 27th by dressing up in our halloween costumes all day! This is a joint collaboration with UMBC Artists club, Cosplay Coalition, Anime Society, and COM (Comics and Other Medias) club. Come join us in spreading the Halloween Spirit around campus! Costumes are encouraged, but not required. (more details about the event listed in the previous post/announcement)

Good Spooky Evening Everyone!
In celebration of this year's Halloween Season, we are inviting you all to come join us and dress up in your Halloween costumes on campus, Wednesday October 27th all-day! This event is a collaboration between Japanese Student Association (JSA), UMBC Artists Club, Cosplay Coalition, UMBC Anime Society, and COM (Comics and Other Media), but everyone in and outside of the clubs are more than welcome to participate! We are not having a specific gathering place or meetup time, but instead this was planned as a general dress-up, hang out, and having fun occasion! The cut-off time might be around 6pm or so, but you are more than welcome to stay dressed up for the night if you would like. Feel free to spread the word around, the more people we get involved the spookier UMBC will be!
In addition, we also will have some club events during the week of Halloween for everyone to join in!
- JSA: Teru Teru Bozu Event! Come by SHER 006 on Wed Oct 27th, 2:30pm-3:30pm to create your own and learn the history of these curious ghost dolls form Japan
- Anime Society: A Spooktacular Halloween meeting from 6:00pm-11:00pm in SHER 003 and virtually in Discord (invite link below). Club members can nominate and vote on a horror/Halloween themed anime for everyone to watch starting at 8:00pm. But that's not all, there will be a Horror Game Night on Sat Oct 30th at 6:00pm in the Student Orgs Lounge in the Commons!

Good evening everybody!
In this week's GBM, we are bringing back an old classic! We will be covering the History of the Video Game Company, Nintendo! Please note that our meet time and location will be different this week. We are testing out if we can have alternate meeting times so that people who could not make it to the Wednesday meetings could also make it to our Monday meetings (subject to change). The new meet location will be SHERMAN 015, at 4:00pm-5:00pm, Monday Oct 11th.

First JSA Meeting: Meet the Club! (Online via Discord)

こんばんは！Good Evening JSA club members!
I hope everyone has been doing fine so far during this third
week of Fall Semester.
Our first meeting is quickly approaching on the horizon, where we will give a
warm welcome back to all our new and old members to JSA, as well as give
everyone a brief introduction on what we do as a club and a rough overview of
our schedule (subject to change)! It will be a brief online meeting on Discord
on Wed Sept 15, 6:00pm (invite

In addition to that, we have a when2meet schedule survey made to
gauge everyone’s availability time for in-person meetings, and we would super
appreciate it if everyone takes about a minute to select a time you are most

Calligraphy GBM this Wednesday!
Learn about Japanese Calligraphy!
Our next general body meeting will be this Wednesday, September 25th during free hour (12-1 pm) in Sondheim 107. The third GBM of the semester will be all about Calligraphy with a presentation from Sean, our Historian.
We are also having a Calligraphy Social this Friday, September 27th in Math/Psych 104. Join us for a chance to experience writing Japanese calligraphy. If you attend the GBM, it will give you more insight on what calligraphy is about and what we will be doing on Friday.
