Join us this Thursday Oct 10th 5-7 pm @ The Commons 318 for our first GBM of the semester! We will also be decorating hand fans. This creative gathering invites all students to express their artistic flair while learning about the cultural significance of hand fans in Japan. We will also learn of the different kinds of fashion in Japanese. Feel free to dress up!Participants will enjoy a relaxed atmosphere, complete with East Asian music, as they design their own unique fans using vibrant colors and patterns. Whether you're looking to connect with fellow students, explore Japanese culture, or simply have fun, this event promises a delightful experience. Basic supplies will be provided, but feel free to bring your own. Snacks will be provided!

JSA GBM Monday Feb 28th: Origami!
Hello all!
We hope you are doing well in all your classes, and we're here are to tell you about our general body meeting (GBM) tomorrow which will feature the traditional folding paper art of origami!
This meeting is also to commemorate and participate in the One Thousand Origami Cranes 11th Year of Remembrance of the 2011 Tsunami and Earthquake Disaster, presented by Randolph-Macon College and University of Alaska Anchorage, to commemorate the two students from each university lost in the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami on March 11th, 2011. By creating 10 paper cranes and stacking them on top of each other, anyone can participate and be a part of this commemoration. Click the link below for more information:

Welcome to JSA Spring 2022!!
Hello all! And welcome back to another exciting semester for the Japanese Student Association! And for those that are new, welcome to the club!
First order of business, Involvement Fest! As usual, JSA will be participating in UMBC's virtual Involvement Fest, and we'll be holding our first official meeting, and officer introduction Friday, February 11th from 1:30 to 2:30 pm via Webex. For this week’s GBM, we will be covering the Significance of the Japanese Navy! Prep your cannons and man your stations for the meeting this Wednesday, Dec 1st from 2:30pm - 3:30pm in SHER 006.
In addition to that, the JSA Elections are ending soon on Tue Nov 30th by midnight, so be sure to submit your votes in as soon as possible! Every vote counts! (election form link listed below)

This week we will not be having a GBM, but instead we will hold JSA Elections for next year’s eboard. The Elections will be held virtually, and will be up for members to vote starting today Tue 11/23 to midnight Tue 11/30. The election form will require a umbc account sign in to prevent fraudulent/duplicate votes. Please take some time to fill out the election form, we highly appreciate your participation and being part of the JSA family for all this time, as well as continuing JSA’s tradition towards a brighter future!
