P and DUB! praise and WORSHIP!!
posted almost 13 years ago
I've been asking Fr. John about this for a while, but just for survey purposes..
I'm Vivian and I'm a freshman, and I came from a pretty involved church community before I came to UMBC/Newman Club. What I was most involved with was praise and worship, as the praise leader for St. Joe's Fullerton Youth Ministry.
I've asked Fr. John what he thinks about having a P/W + Adoration session one night. Just to unwind and experience unearthliness because it's so easy to forget where we are in the midst of school, and papers, and finals, and more school. Like suddenly, in the face of Jesus, everything else becomes small so easily, the power of Adoration really puts us in our place. Fr. John always tells us that what we need most are things that feed the soul, and frankly, my soul is STARVING. Mass is always enough, and it's hard to make Weds. Adoration often times, but personally, I just want more.
Being wrapped up in song and prayer and meditation is an amazing experience. So I was wondering if anyone would be interested in this, if this is something you would want to see happen and actually attend. It would probably just be one night (most likely beginning of next semester) like on a Friday or something, to take off for a few hours to be with Jesus and the company of voices and hearts pouring out for Him.
Also if anyone would want to be involved in the actual music part itself? I play guitar and I sing, but the more the BETTER.
This is just an interest post, so if we have numbers, then we can work to make it happen.
