UBM Scholars John Malloy, Tylynn Pettrey and former UBM Scholar, Leila Bahmani were awarded 2nd Place in their Biological Sciences Poster Session at the 16th Annual Undergraduate Research Symposium in the Chemical and Biological Sciences, Saturday, October 26, 2013. Their poster is entitled "How Well Do Species Tree Methods Deal with Gene Flow? Mitochondrial Introgression in the Northern Oriole Complex. The research was completed under the mentorship of Frode Jacobsen, Biological Sciences; Matthias Gobbert, Mathematics & Statistics; and Kevin Omland, Biological Sciences.
