Personal Travel on Business Trips:
- If your UMBC business trip includes personal travel, you must obtain a comparison quote.
- You can use either Altour or Globetrotter to book the personal portion of your trip. Both travel agencies will document comparison quotes for you.
- Not including a comparison quote may delay or reduce your travel reimbursement.
BWI Airport Parking:
- UMBC travelers are encouraged to use FastPark for parking at BWI Airport.
- For instructions and a coupon code have been added to this post.
- FastPark and Relax is fully reimbursable when coupon code is used.

UK and EU Entry/Exit Requirement UPDATES
Important Notice for International Travel
All international travelers are reminded to verify entry/exit requirements for all countries they will visit or transit through before making travel arrangements. Starting in early 2025, the United Kingdom (Jan, 8th 2025) and European Union will implement new electronic authorization requirements.
United Kingdom
- Effective January 8, 2025: U.S. citizens traveling to or transiting through the UK for short-term stays (up to 6 months) will need an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA).
- Approval Time: You will usually get a decision within 3 working days, but you may get a quicker decision. Occasionally, it may take longer than 3 working days.
- Reimbursement: UMBC will reimburse the £10 fee. Your receipt and currency conversion is required documentation for reimbursement

European Union
- For the latest information on EU entry/exit requirements, please visit the EU website.
- UMBC will reimburse associated fees. Your receipt and currency conversion is required documentation for reimbursement

New PostPeopleSoft Finance Downtime (FSPRD) this weekend - s
To All PeopleSoft Finance/PAW Users,
Please note that the Finance system will be down for a planned quarterly PeopleSoft update from Friday, December 6th, at 5:00 PM, through Sunday, December 8th, at 5:00 PM. If the work finishes early, the system will be made available ahead of schedule.
Please do not run any processes and/or reports in FSPRD after 4:30 PM, to allow time for them to run to completion prior to the downtime of 5:00 PM. Anything submitted after 4:30 PM may be placed on a "Hold" status until system maintenance is complete.
Thank you very much for your cooperation. If you have any questions or concerns, please submit them here.
Travel System Users: The Travel System will not be available for Pre-Approval (PA) or Travel Reimbursement (RB) processing during the downtime. When PeopleSoft comes back online, the Travel System service will be restored.
Paw Procurement System Users: During this time, any transactions that require validation will be unable to complete that step in workflow, as the systems will be unable to connect. When PeopleSoft comes back online, validation can occur. Any other aspects of PAW will not be affected

As Federal export control regulations are changing quickly, Travel Services is excited to introduce everyone to The Office of Research Protections & Compliance.
The Office of Research Protections & Compliance (ORPC) serves as a central resource to ensure that UMBC conducts research in alignment with federal, state, and institutional regulations.
For international travel pertaining to research, ORPC collaborates with the Center for Global Engagement, focusing on potential export control violations. Export control regulations may apply when taking controlled items or data abroad, attending restricted conferences or meetings, or traveling to sanctioned or embargoed countries.
For resources and pre-travel requirements for taking UMBC devices abroad, please visit our website or e-mail us directly.
Travel Leaders has merged with its sister company and will now operate under the new name Altour. Despite this change in branding, the process for booking travel through our designated travel agencies remains unchanged.
We are currently collaborating with Altour (formerly Travel Leaders) to develop a more streamlined and efficient process for managing trips that combine personal and business travel. At this time, please be reminded that the only approved travel agency capable of properly processing personal + business trips is Globetrotter.
