Due to inclement weather, UMBC's physical campus will be closed on Monday Feb. 23rd, 2026.

UMBC Transit will be closed during the campus closure - Monday, February 23, 2026. Our team will continue to closely monitor road and weather conditions to determine transit operations for Tuesday, February 24th. Additional details regarding service start times and route operations will be shared as conditions allow. Your safety is our top priority, and we appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate this weather event.

Dear Retrievers and Valued Transit Riders, 

We’re pleased to share that UMBC Transit will resume service on the Spring 2026 Weekend schedule following last week’s winter weather closure. 

As we reopen, please be aware that snow buildup and ongoing cleanup efforts across campus and off campus may still impact operations. Riders should expect delays as our operators proceed cautiously. Our focus remains safety first as we work through this transition back to service. 

Additionally, many sidewalks and boarding areas may still be uncleared or partially obstructed. For your safety, we ask that riders please: 
  • Use extra caution when approaching bus stops and boarding buses 
  • Do not stand in the street if sidewalks are unavailable 
  • Stand back and allow the bus to come to a complete stop before boarding 
  • Allow additional travel time and remain patient as conditions continue to improve 
Our team will continue to monitor route conditions closely and make adjustments as needed to ensure the safest service possible. 

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as campus continues recovery efforts. Your safety—and that of our operators—remains our highest priority.
