Are you interested in public transit but it doesn't get you where you need to go when you need to be there?

Then please visit the Central Maryland Transportation Alliance on the Commons Terrace this Wednesday, November 5^th from Noon – 1 pm.

The Transportation Alliance advocates for better transportation options in the region and is gathering signature to petition MTA for improved bus service.

Even if you don’t take the bus better service means increased efficiency of our transit network, lowering our dependence on fossil fuels, and making the waters of the Chesapeake Bay and Maryland’s air cleaner.

Due to a water main break, parts of Ingleside Ave has been closed.  UMBC Transit is unabled to service the following stop along this route.

The route will be back on its regular pattern on Wednesday, September 17 after the Star Spangled Celebrations have ended.

UMBC shuttle service now offers routes from UMBC campus to downtown Baltimore

UMBC's transit service has created two new shuttle routes designed to connect the UMBC community to several areas of downtown Baltimore, including the Inner Harbor, Lexington Market, Baltimore's sports stadiums, and the University of Baltimore (UMB) campus.

The new routes provide students, faculty, and staff the opportunity to connect UMBC projects, activities, and academic programs to Baltimore City. It also supports members of the UMBC community living in the Baltimore area with direct access to campus.

The shuttle service will operate two different routes to account for traffic and congestion in and around the city. Please visit our bus schedules and maps for more information on route stops and departure and arrival times. We also encourage you to check out the UMBC Transit Tracker for real-time location of our shuttle buses.

The new shuttle routes are a free service for the UMBC community, funded by the parking and transportation student fee. You will need to show a valid student ID to access this service.

Bike to Work Day is a national event to encourage and celebrate bicycling to work and promote public awareness of bicycling and bicycle safety. Locally, it's a part of Maryland's Clean Commute Month in May. Register here.

Late Spring is the start of the ground-level ozone season, when we hear about Code Red and Orange Ozone Action Days. On these warm smoggy days, the air is dangerous to breathe – especially for the young and for the elderly. Emissions from single occupancy vehicles(driving alone) contribute approximately 20% of our region's dangerous ozone levels. Driving alone also results in increasingly congested roadways and parking issues. We can save money, protect the environment, stay in shape and have fun while biking.

Transportation accounts for 38% of UMBC's carbon footprint. In 2007, President Hrabowski committed to campus carbon neutrality.

Well there is no need to splurge on an expensive bike on a college student's budget. The perfect solution is the RetrieverFleet! The program is free (unless renting overnight) and consists of 6 Diamondback bikes!

How does it work?

You hand your UMBC I.D. to the RAC staff and
check out a bike—they come with locks and helmets. Bikes are due back to the
RAC 15 minutes before closing time to avoid the overnight charge.

Need the bike for more than one day?

The program allows for overnight rentals at the rate of $17 per day and the first day is free.
