Introduction to PeopleSoft

This course is designed for new users to PeopleSoft. This course is a prerequisite to attending the PeopleSoft Fundamentals course. This 2-hour beginner's course initiates new users with a basic introduction and overview of the PeopleSoft system as implemented by UMBC.
After completing this course, the participant should be able to:
- Have a basic understanding of the general PeopleSoft product
- Know why UMBC implemented PeopleSoft and name the three databases currently being utilized
- Identify and define what a chartfield, chartfield string, and Combination Code are, as related to UMBC's PeopleSoft
- Know the components of the Finance and Human Resources databases
- Have a very basic knowledge of PeopleSoft terminology, specifically as it relates to UMBC's utilization of PeopleSoft
- Know the necessary steps, select the correct forms, and understand what procedure to follow to gain security access to the PeopleSoft system
- Know where and how to locate help and assistance with the UMBC PeopleSoft product
