Introduction to PeopleSoft

This course is designed for new users to PeopleSoft. This course is a prerequisite to attending the PeopleSoft Fundamentals course. This 2-hour beginner's course initiates new users with a basic introduction and overview of the PeopleSoft system as implemented by UMBC.

After completing this course, the participant should be able to:

Have a basic understanding of the general PeopleSoft product
Know why UMBC implemented PeopleSoft and name the three databases currently being utilized
Identify and define what a chartfield, chartfield string, and Combination Code are, as related to UMBC's PeopleSoft
Know the components of the Finance and Human Resources databases
Have a very basic knowledge of PeopleSoft terminology, specifically as it relates to UMBC's utilization of PeopleSoft
Know the necessary steps, select the correct forms, and understand what procedure to follow to gain security access to the PeopleSoft system
Know where and how to locate help and assistance with the UMBC PeopleSoft product
