Elizabeth Tan (UMBC SWE President), Chemical Engineering '18, Biology and Chemistry Minor.
This summer, she interned at Lion Brothers as a research and development engineering intern. Elizabeth conducted a feasibility study on a polymer-based product. By the end of the internship, her project was finalized and handed off to China for Pilot testing. If all goes well, the polymer embellishment product would soon hit commercialization.
The internship experience was such an amazing step into her career. It gave Elizabeth a glimpse into what the consumer product industry would be like. In the future, she hopes to be able to work in a consumer product industry to impact individuals in the community.
In addition, Elizabeth and her SWE-executive board planned a great deal of exciting events for the Fall semester. They hope to see returning and new faces this year. "Don't forget to stop by at our table during I-Fest thisWednesday, September 7th at the Quad from 12-3pm!"
We, UMBC SWE, will be featuring those who have supported the Society of Women Engineer chapter and our mission statement. The UMBC SWE chapter is a professional organization so send your story today!!
