The McNair Scholars Program provides experiences that prepare students for graduate education in all disciplines. The program involves students in research, mentoring, and other scholarly activities. The goal of the program is to increase the attainment of doctoral degrees by students from underrepresented segments of society. Eligible participants are low-income/first-generation college students, or members of groups underrepresented in graduate education.

There are a number of benefits if selected such as: faculty mentorship, hands on guidance and navigation through the graduate school application process, GRE waivers, the opportunity to attend research conferences, and first-hand exposure to individuals who have earned PhD’s.
