The
Reach Together Program is seeking 100 motivated and dynamic UMBC
community members, with a desire to serve local 2nd - 8th grade students
to serve as Math Coaches (tutors).
The Reach
Together Program is a partnership program of the UMBC Sherman Program
with Baltimore City Public Schools. Over the past 10 years, UMBC has
partnered deeply with Lakeland EMS and additional Baltimore school
communities to improve learning outcomes and support students and
families through partnership programs. The Reach Together Program builds
upon our Math Coach Program, partnering with Arundel Elementary, Cherry
Hill Elementary/Middle, Lakeland Elementary/Middle, And Westport
Elementary/Middle schools to provide academic acceleration for students
through high-dosage tutoring in mathematics.
Become a UMBC Math Coach and
work with a small group of students in grades 2nd - 8th on key concepts
in math 3 hours each week during the school day at Baltimore City
schools beginning in early September - May. Math Coaches will receive
pre-service training and on-going support on lesson planning, math
content, and maintaining a strong mentor relationship with your
students. Compensation is $18/hour and you can earn a notation on your
transcript through the 096 Practicum course through The Shriver Center.

the national application deadline is Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at 11:59 PM Pacific. As you prepare to apply, set aside enough time to complete your application without interruption (about 25-30 minutes). Some applications will have you perform a series of gamified tests to match your compatibility with the role. Be sure to have an updated resume and unofficial transcript(s) ready before you begin! A few key reminders to note:

Part 2 of the workshop will occur in-person at UMBC the Biological Sciences Building, BIO 120. Once you have completed an online session, you must attend ONE of the following in-person sessions to complete the certification:

Friday, September 10, 3:15 - 4:15 pm

The Shattuck Family Internship Program for Entrepreneurship
Innovation and Social Change prepares UMBC students for the rigors and
rewards of entrepreneurship and social innovation. This program places
highly-motivated students from diverse backgrounds in mentored
internships to better prepare them to launch for-profit ventures.
Internships last one semester (15 weeks) and students will work, on
average, 8 to 10 hours per week. Students receive a stipend of $1,500
toward their compensation. In addition to the internship, students
engage in projects and activities that further expose them to the
entrepreneurial mindset.
Why Participate?
- Earn a competitive stipend of $1,500
- Gain valuable experience in your career field by interning 120 hours over the course of the semester (8-10 hours per week)
- Be exposed to the knowledge, skills, and mindset required to successfully launch and manage a growing business
- Develop a network of contacts in the entrepreneurial community for future references and opportunities
- Apply classroom knowledge in a realistic work environment and apply lessons learned in the workplace to academic coursework

The Shattuck Family Internship Program for Entrepreneurship Innovation

Navy and maritime communities have come to depend on our expertise and innovative spirit in developing advanced platforms and systems, enhancing naval performance, reducing operating costs and addressing the Navy's evolving mission.
Carderock's core competencies include:

The Carderock Division's unique laboratories, modeling and simulation facilities, at-sea-assets and large-scale, land-based engineering and test sites at nine locations across the country contribute to the full-spectrum nature of our mission.
