What do ballet, the bachata, and ballroom dancing all have in common? Put your best foot forward this winter and earn Culture GEP credit with Dance Appreciation (DANC 101). Explore and compare the social and cultural genres of dance in present and past societies across the globe through their movements, practices, and purposes.
Each student will have the opportunity to learn about the roles of choreographers, dancers, musicians, and audiences and how they differ across cultures in this hands-on course. This course is offered as DANC 101, and fulfills a general education requirement (GEP) in Culture and in the Arts and Humanities.
UMBC winter session offers more than 100 courses during winter session. Many of these, like DANC 101, are offered through the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences.
