<Title>The Gilman Application is now OPEN</Title>
<Tagline>Apply for the Gilman International Scholarship TODAY!</Tagline>

    <div class="html-content">Are you interested in studying abroad? Are you a Federal Pell Grant recipient? Or are you the child of an active duty service member in the US military?<div><br></div><div>If you answered yes to two or more of those questions, you should apply for the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship or the Gilman-McCain Scholarship!</div><div><br></div><div>The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship is funded by the US Department of State to help students that are limited by financial means to study or intern abroad. Recipients are eligible to receive up to $5,000 for up to one academic year of undergraduate study abroad. More information about the Gilman Scholarship can be found <a href="https://www.gilmanscholarship.org/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">here</a>.</div><div><br></div><div><img src="https://studyabroad.umbc.edu/files/2022/01/Gilman.png" style="max-width: 100%; height: auto;"></div><div><br></div><div>The Gilman-McCain Scholarship is funded by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs at the U.S. Department of State. The Gilman-McCain Scholarship provides awards of up to $5,000 for child dependents of active duty service members to study or intern abroad. <Title>The American Passport Project: Get your passport for free!</Title>

    <div class="html-content"><img src="https://studyabroad.umbc.edu/files/2021/10/American-Passport-Project.jpg" style="max-width: 100%; height: auto;"><div><br></div><div><span>We are excited to share that we are</span><span> collaborating with the U.S. Department of State and the Institute for International Education (IIE) in providing </span><strong>free passports to 25 eligible UMBC students!</strong><div><span><strong><br></strong></span></div><div>This joint initiative has a few steps that are as follows:<br><br>-Apply by the deadline of October 29, 2021<br>-Your nomination will be sent to the Institute for International Education and they<br>will email you to confirm your eligibility.<br>-You will come to a Passport Processing Meeting with the Education Abroad staff<br>(we will assist you with filling out the forms and obtaining your photos)<br>-You will come to a Passport Application Appointment on November 17<br><br>Please understand that you will be asked to provide proof of US Citizen status, and proof of current Pell Grant eligibility to UMBC's Education Abroad Office, and/or the Institution for International Education.
