Break the Silence, End the Stigma
The Office of Accessibility and Disability Services is celebrating May as Mental Health Awareness Month.  Established in 1949, this celebration raises awareness of the importance of mental health, self-care and the importance of support and treatment options for personal and community health.  Learn more about mental health and practices such as sleep and exercise that can enhance mental well-being.

The Wellness Initiative [link] coordinates classes, webinars and initiatives that support mental health and well-being

Students can connect with NAMI UMBC [link] and/or find confidential support and additional resources through The Counseling Center's website. 

Want to be more effective with mental health in the community?  Get trained in Mental Health First Aid through the UHS's office of Health Promotion which offers it twice each semester.  Call 410-455-2546 to find out about the next class.

Faculty and staff who are struggling with a situation may have support and referral through the employee assistance program [link], as well as through their insurance networks.

And let's not forget that the stress of the end of the semester has many campus partners supporting stress relief, such as the Women's Center is having a self-care day on May 14th and the Mosaic Center is having a Relaxation Station on May 15th.

During finals SDS will be open from 8:30am-6pm.

With finals starting in two weeks, we at Student Disability Services would like to remind students who are approved for testing accommodations to schedule your final exams with our office ASAP. Final exams start on Thursday, 12/13/18 and end on Wednesday 12/19/18. There is no testing on Study Day 12/12/18. 


Please schedule your exams through our online Accommodate system. If you need assistance in scheduling your exams, please contact us at disAbility@umbc.edu, 410-455-2459 or visit us in person at our office located in Math/Psychology, 2nd Fl. Room 212.


Students, who have been approved and are utilizing note-taking assistance, please make sure you are downloading your notes. Class notes will not be available after the last day of class, 12/11/18.
