StormCenter Communications, located in the UMBC Research and Technology Park on the UMBC campus, is seeking a talented Senior or Graduate Student at UMBC in Web Programmer or Designer to design, layout, produce and maintain the company's website.
The applicant should be very detail-oriented, adept at problem solving, have good listening skills and the ability to work closely within our organization. The successful applicant will have knowledge of current web-design issues, trends and techniques along with content management knowledge so new items such as stories, video and images can be posted and updated easily. Assets include: ability to work in a team environment and provide training to colleagues and clients; formal training in desktop publishing applications; superior knowledge of current web-design trends and techniques; a strong online portfolio displaying user-centered design,; and experience with web database solutions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design of internal and possibly external websites
- Working closely with StormCenter personnel to create solutions for company and customer needs
- Produce timely functional designs that are user friendly
- Ensure content layout is accessible to end users
- Do maintenance and updates to various sites as necessary
- Train clients on Content Management System (CMS) if necessary
EDUCATION
Senior or Graduate student at UMBC with a 3.0 GPA minimum and experience in web programming, graphic or web design.
