Recruiting practicum students for clinical work with students with Autism Spectrum Disorders
Little Red Car ABA Services LLC is a Baltimore-based company that provides in-home and community-based consultation, supervision, and training services for children and young adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders. We work with students from 18 months to 21 years. We specialize in skill acquisition program including language, play, social skills, leisure skills,
academics, self-help, and independence while addressing challenging behaviors functionally using positive behavioral supports.
Starting in January 2013 we will be offering customized social skills instruction in planned social contexts with neuro-typical peers.
About the position
- As a practicum student you will assist in the implementation and planning
of social skills groups. You will be expected to demonstrate a confidence
and enjoyment working with children. You will become familiar with the
spectrum of social skills challenges experienced by those with Autism
Spectrum Disorders and a range of evidence-based strategies for
overcoming these challenges. You will work with the students with Autism
and learn how to use peer training and collaborative learning models to
facilitate social participation and skill acquisition in the context of play.
Post-practicum part-time employment opportunities may become available
for exceptional practicum students.
Time Commitment
- 8-10 hours per week (see times below)
- January through April 2013
Work Location
o Teaching sessions will take place at the Westchester Community Center in
Oella, MD on Tuesday and Friday evenings from 5:30 to 7:30pm, on
Thursday evenings from 5:00 to 7:00pm, and on Wednesday or Friday
mornings from 10-12 am.
o Planning sessions will take place in our office in Catonsville Maryland.
