As an undergraduate student at UMBC, Dehyu came to the realization that time management
was not his strongest ability. Furthermore, there was no service provided that used popular
technology to assist students in learning how to manage their time, develop effective study
skills, and keep on track with their academic and personal schedules. Capitalizing on this
overwhelming need, Dehyu conceived the Virtual Parent, a service offering a copyrighted
dynamic scheduling application that provides university students with reminders about
academic and personal events through the use of automated text messages.
