<Title>Conservation/Sustainability Internships-All Majors Welcome!</Title>

    <div class="html-content">Every summer, <a href="http://www.tnc.org" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">The Nature Conservancy (TNC)</a> hires students to fill over forty PAID internship positions during a 10-week internship. These positions are available throughout the country and provide a unique opportunity to bridge the gap between academics and the work being done in the world of conservation to promote a healthy, sustainable planet. <br><br>Interns begin the program with an orientation retreat (travel expenses covered) in which TNC leaders and students come together to share educational, professional and career experiences. Interns have used orientation as a great opportunity to build lifelong friendships, professional contacts and business connections.<br><br>Interns are selected based on their eligibility, qualifications and experience level related to the specifics of the job position. Applicants will be notified of the next steps within four weeks after the posting date ends with 2-3 phone interviews to follow for those selected as finalists. Additional information may be required before making a final decision.     Impacting the future of education takes a great deal of passion, not to 
    mention hard work. To give you a better idea of what it’s like as a 
    tutor at BELL, here are some of the day-to-day responsibilities you can 
    expect: <br>
    <br>
    - Ensuring the academic and social development of scholars throughout the course of the school year.<br>
    - Providing one-on-one tutoring to help scholars master the basic skills of math.<br>
    - Serving as a mentor for an assigned group of scholars.<br>
    - Developing scholar goals and lesson plans.<br>
    - Keeping track of scholars’ attendance and behavior.  <br>
    <br>
    What we require from our Tutors is a passion for the success and 
    achievement of tomorrow’s scholars and leaders. Previous experience 
    volunteering or working with children or the community is preferred but 
    not mandatory.<br>
    <br>
    This position is located in Baltimore, MD.  Saturdays only 8:15-11:45am, 10 week program and pays $12/hr.<br>

<Title>The State of MD, Office of the Public Defender Seeks Interns</Title>

    <div class="html-content"><p><u><span>VOLUNTEER INTERN DESCRIPTION</span></u><span>:<span>  </span>The State of Maryland, Office of the Public
    Defender has 12 District offices and 7 Divisions throughout the State of
    Maryland and is seeking college students and recent graduates to work as
    interns assisting in the defense of criminal cases in the various county
    Circuit, District and Juvenile Courts.<span> 
    </span>The OPD is interested in recruiting volunteer interns, interns for
    school credit or students who have obtained public interest grants.<span>  </span>Interns assist with support staff duties and
    may also assist with the attorneys' criminal cases, which range in seriousness
    from misdemeanor theft to homicide.<span>  </span>The
    OPD accepts volunteer applications for all semesters and for the summer.<span>  </span></span></p>
    
    
    
    <p><u><span>RESPONSIBILITIES</span></u><span>:<span>  </span>Intern responsibilities include:<span>  </span>answering telephones; data entry; conducting
    intake; filing motions and legal memoranda; participating in case planning and
    preparation for trial, hearings, and/or sentencing; and witness
    coordination.<span>  </span>Interns may also assist
    attorneys at court hearings and trial in their assigned cases. </span></p>

This event was made in accordance with the National Homelessness and Hunger Awareness Week (NHHAW).     <div class="html-content">Yates Insurance &amp; Bonding, located in Edgewater Maryland, is looking for a web design intern interested in increasing their portfolio by revamping a company web site. The goal of the project is to make the site more interactive for users while also giving the site a new look. Applicants must have broad knowledge of web design (and have completed IS387), the ability to implement ideas from executives and able to bring new ideas along with vision to the project.
