Maryland State Delegate Kirill Reznik (District 39 in Montgomery County) is seeking interns to work in his Annapolis office during the Maryland General Assembly's 2012 Legislative Session. Delegate Reznik serves on the Health and Government Operations Committee. While his committee primarily focuses on health care related topics, his office will focus on passing legislation on a variety of issues. This is an excellent opportunity to learn how the Maryland government operates and gain valuable experience working in a legislative body. Along with administrative work, interns will gain hands-on experience while researching legislation that will come before the Health and Government Operations Committee, working on constituent issues, and helping staff to pass legislation sponsored by the Delegate. Interns will also be encouraged to follow legislation of their personal interest as those bills work through the legislative process. Interns should be college students willing to commit at least two full days a week from the middle of January to the middle of April. All applicants are welcome, regardless of Maryland residency.

So, what’s a typical day like for a White House Intern?

It’s a question I’m often asked, and the honest answer is that there’s no such thing. The White House departments  where they conduct research, manage incoming inquiries, attend meetings, write memos and staff events. Some of the offices where they work include the Office of the First Lady, the Office of Scheduling and Advance, the Office of Public Engagement and Intergovernmental Affairs, the Office of the White House Counsel, the National Economic Council, the Office of Communications, the Domestic Policy Council and the Office of Digital Strategy.

In addition to their regular duties, each week, White House Interns hear from senior members of the Administration including the First Lady, the Chief of Staff and the White House Counsel. They meet in small groups to discuss policy issues and take off-site field trips to learn more about Washington, D.C. They participate in service projects at non-profits and schools. Not to mention, they spend three months alongside other Interns who are devoted to public service and with whom they build long-lasting friendships.

Today we open the application for the Summer 2012 White House Internship Program. The summer program runs from May 29, 2012 through August 10, 2012, and the application deadline is January 22, 2012.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Guerilla Marketing - hitting the streets, passing out promo items (pens, flyers, door hangers, etc) around Baltimore (mainly focused in Canton, Fed Hill, Fells Pt, Little Italy, Harbor East, Inner Harbor, & Mount Vernon)
• Attending EatBmore.com events to create/collect leads (may require transport of materials (ie: banners, flyers, stickers, etc)
• Inform people about EatBmore via social media
• Take photos of your efforts
