We are looking for several support staff members to supplement and support the work of all individuals in the Executive Branch.  These positions include a Chief of Staff -- an individual tasked with the day-to-day operations of the SGA; a Coordinator of Internal Affairs -- an individual to manage SGA resources; a coordinator for our ProveIT! Program (see sga.umbc.edu/proveit); a liaison between the SGA and our University colleagues; a Communications Director; and a webmaster.

Working with the Vice President for Student Organizations and the Treasurer, the Student Organization Support (SOS) Team works to promote our 270+ student organizations through allocation and acquisition of resources, counseling and consultation through the SGA Finance Board processes, and promotion of growth and leadership development.

This year, we are planning for the SGA to be structured a bit differently than it has been previously.  We are interested in seeing how we can create a structure that complements the nature of our work and the interdisciplinary interests of the many members of the organization.  We ask that you complete this form simply with what you are passionate about -- what drives you, what do you want to see changed the most on and beyond campus, what would make UMBC an ideal institution to attend?  Keep that passion in mind as you complete the application.

***Please note that all SGA positions that are eligible for a stipend are subject to review by the Stipend Review Committee***

Below is a list of the students who submitted applications to run for SGA positions in the April election. This list is preliminary and not final (the names listed below will be checked for eligibility and may appear differently on the ballot, including their order).

All candidates must receive a number of votes equal to at least 5% of the number of total votes cast in the election. Candidates for the executive positions are elected by the Instant Runoff system, while candidates for Senate and Finance Board are elected by plurality. The top eleven vote receiving candidates will be elected to Senate. The top five vote receiving candidates will be elected to Finance Board. Write-in votes are permitted in SGA elections.

The election will take place through myUMBC on Monday April 17th, Tuesday April 18th, and Wednesday April 19th.

All candidates will receive an e-mail message from the Election Board Chair with information about mandatory candidate information sessions and other important information.

After passing election reform last week, we would like to get this 2017 election season started! If you have ideas for how campus could be changed for the better or would like to support those who do, consider applying for a position in the Student Government Association.
