This program is open to all undergraduate students who have completed at least 12 credits, are interested in getting involved and creating change on campus, and in meeting like-minded students that care about UMBC! The Associate Director of Special Projects & Flagship Initiatives, Election Night Extravaganza is responsible for implementing SGA's biannual event, Election Night Extravaganza. Election Night Extravaganza has historically occurred only in alignment with Presidential election cycles, but this year we are expanding it to midterm elections. The Associate Director will work with student leaders from The Student Events Board (seb), College Democrats, College Republicans, The Resident Student Association (RSA), and other politically-engaged student organizations on campus to deliver programming around the 2018 Elections. Election Night Extravaganza will take place on Election Day (November 6th), where SGA will take over The Commons with programming throughout the building. Additionally, the Associate Director will organize other relevant programming before and after Election Day including expanding the Coffee & Conversation series, voter registration drives, and other initiatives that promote civic engagement. Lastly, the Associate Director will be working closely with staff and administrators from the Division of Student Affairs to build on UMBC's culture of civic engagement. 

The regular time commitments of the Associate Director of Special Projects & Flagship Initiatives, Election Night Extravaganza greatly vary. During the Fall semester, the Associate Director will spend time working with the student groups mentioned above to implement Election Night Extravaganza on November 6th. Additionally, the coordination of events leading up to (and after) the election will also involve significant time commitments. However, SGA work should not get in the way of self-care time and studying for your classes - you come first!

The Associate Director of Special Projects & Flagship Initiatives, Prove It! is responsible for implementing SGA's annual idea competition, Prove It! This flagship initiative awards up to $10,000 to student groups that are seeking to to bring positive change to campus. The Associate Director will work with campus administrators to create a vetting process that determines the practicality of the submitted initiatives, administer the Prove It! election, determine how the program can be improved, and develop plans to sustain this initiative for the foreseeable future.   

The regular time commitments of the Director of Special Projects & Flagship Initiatives greatly vary. During the Fall semester, the Associate Director will spend time working with administrators about how Prove It! can change and be improved upon, and will also identify students/student groups that may be interested in submitting a proposal to Prove It! During Spring semester, the Associate Director should expect a heavy work flow as this is the peak time for Prove It! - the submission of applications, the screening process, the election, and the announcement of the winner. However, SGA work should not get in the way of self-care time and studying for your classes - you come first!

The Director of Special Projects & Flagship Initiatives is responsible for overseeing, advising, and mentoring the leaders of SGA's most important initiatives including (but not limited to) Prove It! and Election Night Extravaganza. They will facilitate meetings, set strategies for large scale projects, and develop plans to sustain these initiatives for the foreseeable future.

During peak times, the Director should expect an intense workload (ex: November 6th is Election Night Extravaganza, Prove It! election is in the Spring), and a moderate to heavy work load leading up to the implementation of the project itself. However, SGA work should not get in the way of self-care time and studying for your classes - you come first!

The Coordinator of Social Media & Web Development is responsible for managing the SGA website and all of SGA’s social media platforms, as well as implementing communication strategies set by the Director of Communications.

The regular time commitments of the Coordinator of Social Media & Web Development vary. Some weeks there might be several events from SGA that will require the Coordinator of Social Media & Web Development to be present at - some weeks, there may not be many things happening at all. While dates for specific events will be given, the Coordinator of Social Media & Web Development will also be responsible for maintaining the SGA website and social media outside of these events. However, SGA work should not get in the way of self-care time and studying for your classes - you come first!

The Coordinator of Public Relations is responsible for all outside communications on behalf of the organizations. This includes working with The Retriever to publicize statements from SGA, create a weekly newsletter, and post SGA updates to myUMBC. 

The Coordinator of Public Relations has the opportunity to make their own schedules. The expectation is that The Coordinator of Public Relations members are working on SGA related activities 3 - 7 hours per week. The Coordinator of Public Relations members are required to attend meetings of the Department of Communications (meeting time will be determined at a later time). Note that some weeks may be more involved than others. Your SGA work should not get in the way of self-care time and studying for your classes - you come first!

The Coordinator of Photography & Videography is responsible for taking pictures and videos at all SGA related events and activities. We are trying to build our collection of photos and videos beginning this year for future marketing and historical documentation.  

The regular time commitments of the Coordinator of Photography & Videography vary. Some weeks there might be several events from SGA that will require the Coordinator of Photography & Videography to be present at - some weeks, there may not be many things happening at all. While dates for specific events will be given, the Coordinator of Photography & Videography will also be responsible for editing photos/videos which may take a considerable amount of time, but they will be able to create their own schedule. SGA work should not get in the way of self-care time and studying for your classes - you come first!

The Coordinator of Graphic Design is responsible for designing all SGA related materials for events, handouts, and anything else that needs to be consistent with the brand of SGA. 

The regular time commitments of the Coordinator of Graphic Design vary. Some weeks there might be several events from SGA that will require the aid of the Coordinator of Graphic Design - some weeks, there may not be many things happening at all. While due dates will be set, the graphic designer will be able to create their own schedule. SGA work should not get in the way of self-care time and studying for your classes - you come first!
