Food Trucks Coming to UMBC This Week and Next Week! Two food trucks will be coming to UMBC these next two Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Interested in working with your fellow students to help them develop their leadership potential? Then you should apply to be a Leadership Peer Facilitator (LPF). Leadership Peer Facilitators work with fellow students and one another to create and facilitate programs related to leadership development.

LPFs main responsibilities include:

Develop and facilitate peer-led leadership workshop(s)
Support large scale leadership programming, including Emerging Leaders Weekend
Must facilitate a minimum of 2 leadership workshops (Leadershops) per semester
Monthly one on one meetings with the Coordinator for Leadership to work on program development
Participate in leadership team meetings and continued leadership development training
Attend weekly team meetings on Mondays at 12pm
Team facilitate a cohort of the Retriever Leadership Institute, a 5-week leadership development program
Approximately 3-5 hours per week

Applicants will need to sign up for a 20 minute in person interview once their application has been submitted. You will be contacted regarding scheduling in the mid Spring Semester.

Each groups robot weighs about 120 pounds and plays a game in teams of 3 on 3 on a field the size of a basketball court.

They are seeking volunteers to assist in the following:

Helping set up on Friday
Resetting between matches on Saturday and Sunday
Disassembling the field on Sunday evening.

These roles do not have any education prerequisites and volunteers will be trained on-site. Volunteers will also have the opportunity to network as each team is mentored by professional engineers and coders from various companies and governmental agencies.

- Foster open communication with the student body

- Represent the student voice to different parts of the UMBC community

- Take actions to improve our campus

- Take a stance on issues relating to any matters such as various policies and practices on campus

Senators are required to:

- Attend every Senate meeting, held weekly on Mondays at 5:30 pm in Commons (The room number will be indicated by an email from the Speaker).

- Serve on University shared governance committees

- Work on initiatives with and on behalf of the student body

The dates and general descriptions are listed as the following:

Grad Student Support Group (Tuesdays, 1-2:20pm)

Gain support for managing the stress of graduate school and other challenges in your relationships and personal life.

Women of Color Support (Wednesdays, 2:30-3:50pm)

A safe and confidential space for women of color to explore their identity and discuss challenges associated with experiencing oppression, sexism, and racism

UMBC Self-Help Book Club (Mondays, 4-5pm)

Book: "YOU are a BADASS" by Jen Sincero

Learn Helpful skills for creating the life you want to live thru lively discussions of bite-sized chapters

You've got This Group Round 1: Wednesdays 10:30-12pm, Round 2: Thursdays, 1-2:20pm

Learn to reduce emotional distress, manage upsetting thoughts, and communicate more effectively

Reflecting Retrievers: Undergraduate Support Group (Mondays, 1-2:20pm)

Provides help with managing the stress of college life, improving communication with others, and developing meaningful & healthy relationships

Trans* Support Group (Fridays, 2-2:50pm)

A supportive space for students who identify as trans, genderqueer, gender fluid, non-binary, bigender, and/or those questioning their gender identity

The MUSE (Managing Unwanted Sexual Experiences) Group 1: (Wednesdays. 4-5pm)

A supportive space that empowers survivors of an unwanted sexual experience thru greater understating of trauma & the trauma recovery process

Flexible and Balanced (FAB) Living Group (Thursdays,4-5:20pm)

Learn effective strategies for recognizing and changing perfectionistic thoughts and behaviors that cause you stress or distress

Skills for Success Workshop (Wednesdays 12-12:45pm)

Provides coping strategies to deal with stress, time management, motivation and anxiety that often interfere with meeting personal, social, and academic goals. Students can pick and choose which weeks to attend with this drop-in workshop.

All groups take place in the Counseling Center and are free, confidential, and small-sized (6-8 students).
