Firstly, we need  dinner volunteers. Every day, we serve our 275 residents restaurant-style meals – now including salads a few times a week! We need extra hands to make this process work. Are you able to assist from 4:30-7:30pm? Email me at volunteerWHRC@cc-md.org to schedule your service (no walk-ins, please) or to learn more.

Next, we need  toiletries! The resident mentioned before would love a razor and shaving cream, to freshen up for his granddaughter’s graduation. Soap (especially tiny hotel-sized bars), deodorant and large bottles of shampoo are also high on the priority list. Will you drop off some toiletries? Any amount helps! Let me know at volunteerWHRC@cc-md.org if you can assist.

We are also hoping you can help spread the word to  recent college graduates about an exciting opportunity to volunteer for a year of service through Catholic Charities. Project SERVE (the same program Daisy is doing, for those who know her) is still in need of a few volunteers for the upcoming year – and we hope to have another volunteer placed at WHRC to assist us! Lastly, we need  housewarming items! This month, we have about 10 residents moving out – but when our Director spoke to one of them last week, he literally said, “I have nothing.” He was so excited to move out that it didn’t even matter he didn’t have a bed, shower curtain, or silverware! We hope to have a housewarming party for these residents, and would love some items to give to them.
