ASB trips are student-run, week long service engagement trips designed to challenge students and combat civic issues underlying larger societal concerns such as homelessness, intellectual disabilities, animal welfare, health care and the environment. The tentative ASB Trips for Spring 2013 are the following:
The Arc trip involves students working with the mentally and physically disabled population at the Arc of Carroll County.
The Environmental trip has a focus on understanding the grassroots and policy level of sustainable living in urban environments.
The TEAR trip (Through the Eyes of a Refugee) works with several organizations that serve the refugee population of Baltimore.
The Animal Welfare trip explores several aspects of animal welfare issues and humane treatment of animals.The Day in the Life trip focuses on learning and working with organizations that serve the homeless population of Baltimore City.
The Gesundheit Trip involves working at the Gesundheit Institute, learning and implementing "Patch Adams" teachings in regards to the health care system.
The cost of each trip isapproximately $75.00 with the exception of the Gesundheit Trip ($300) to cover expenses such as food and gas during the trip.
