NEW EXECUTIVE BOARD NOMINATIONS AND ELECTIONS
Hello everyone,
We are on the lookout for nominations (you can nominate yourself) to lead the UMBC SACNAS group next academic year. The positions of President, Vice-President, Treasurer are essential but we would welcome other positions such as Secretary, Activities Coordinator, etc.,. We would like to make sure next year the group can plan more events and general body meetings since we have a big community here at UMBC, so if you feel like you want to help keep UMBC SACNAS alive and thriving for the UMBC community please feel free to reach out to myself Dr. Javier Rivera Guzman (

Exercise Your Right to Vote!
Greetings SACNISTAS,
As a reminder, we have posted the election ballots for the 2021-22 academic year. In it, you will find the candidates who have volunteered thus far to run for given positions and write-in slots in case there is some among you who would like to form part of the executive board. We are closing the polls after this Friday, so please make sure to vote by then. If you log into your MyUMBC page, the announcement/post should be on the right-hand menu, but if not, here is a direct link to the post:
We look forward to working with the new executive board to help them grow SACNAS at UMBC and to provide opportunities for its members to engage with each other, the campus community, and hopefully the community at large. Additionally, we are here to help the executive board as much as we can so that they can plan activities that will be of interest and benefit to you here at UMBC and beyond, e.g., in the past, we have had workshops including on how to get into research.
This community appears to be ever-growing, and we want to help build a safe space for the SACNISTAS and their allies.

Dear SACNAS familia,
We hope that your summer is going well. As you know some of our SACNAS officers recently graduated, and as they move to their next chapter we want to share how grateful we are for their hard work and for facilitating this community of students. Please join us in recognizing Diana, Viviana and Carina! As the fall semester starts we are in need to host elections for the incoming President, Vice President and Treasurer to join our SACNAS Familia. Being part of the leadership will provide you with the opportunity to make decisions that impact our community at UMBC, as well as to learn leadership skills that will translate in your professional career. SACNAS is a nationally recognized professional organization. If you are interested in learning more about the role of the leadership or just to say hello, join us in our information session on Wednesday August 4th from 2-3pm via Webex:
