vision?
how do we align operations with vision
I was delighted to have been able to volunteer to serve on this Student Administration Academic Advisory Committee when the Faculty Senate sought a new member at the beginning of the academic year. My last name is Rada which means to give advice in the Slavic languages.
I have seen many opportunities to give advice about items such as 'enhancing printing ability in SA' or 'Phase II Scope Definition -- Assign Advisees to Advisor'. However, everything has seemed to me to be at a low operational level.
I am teaching tonight Business Process Management and emphasize that organizations work from the vision to the strategy to the tactics to the operational details. The organization measures progress to the targets at the highest levels in order to make sure that its operational targets are helping it optimally achieve its vision.
To my mind Student Administration is a broad topic but that could have many different visions. I have searched our SA Advisory Committee web site and do not find anything about the vision. In the Minutes of the first meeting I find: "Yvette discussed the purpose of this committee for the new committee members. She explained that there was representation from each college on campus and that the responsibility of the committee members is to take back information obtained during these meetings to their respective colleges."
I feel my responsibility is to give advice about the vision, the strategy, the tactics, and the operations. Might you point me to our vision, strategy, and tactics documentation? If not, then how might I help with this?
