Friday, October 6, 2017 is the Homecoming Bonfire, 7:00pm to 11:00pm Erickson Field.  The annual Homecoming bonfire is a long-standing favorite of the UMBC community. This year, the bonfire will feature free chicken wings, falafel, and drinks, games for all to play, Homecoming giveaways, and the musical stylings of the UMBC Pep Band and Drumline! Food will be served beginning at 7 p.m., and the fire will be lit soon after. This event is sponsored by the Student Events Board (seb), and open to all!

At 10:00pm on Friday and 11:00pm on Saturday join the Retriever Dance Marathon in the UC Ballroom.  RDM works with the Be Positive (B+) Foundation to help families with kids that are battling cancer through financial needs. Each year they host their annual dance marathon at UMBC to celebrate the culmination of the donations they have received and the funds they have raised throughout the past year. Through the night, they ask the campus community to join them in dancing For The Kids to help support children with cancer and their families.  https://my.umbc.edu/groups/osl/events/53460.

Are you interested in being an Alternative Spring Break Trip Leader (ASB)?  Applications are due by or before Monday, October 2, 2017.  

ASB consists of several student-run, week-long, service-learning trips that provide an opportunity for students to spend a week during Spring Break learning about and contributing to addressing social issues by working with community partners and government entities. All trips will take place in Baltimore to better connect students to the city and introduce them to opportunities for long-term community engagement beyond ASB.

Sunday is the First Annual UMBC Cycling Classic from 7:00am to 2:00pm. UMBC's Cycling Classic is the perfect opportunity to get outdoors, have some fun, and visit the campus. The Classic will start and end at the Retriever Activity Center (RAC) on UMBC's campus. With 15-, 32-, and 62-mile routes, there is sure to be something for everyone, and every fitness level.

The purpose of this event is to help engage in the surrounding community, while also bringing attention to and supporting the UMBC Athletics Department Scholarship Fund. This fund is committed to providing scholarship support for UMBC student athletes. It plays a pivotal role in enabling the nearly 400 UMBC student athletes to be successful in the classroom, in competition, and in the community. Also, remember registration for LeadingOrgs is due by or before Sunday, September 17, 2017.  LeadingOrgs is a one-day leadership retreat for student organization officers developed by Student Life in collaboration with SGA.

Participants will meet approximately 80 other student organization officers and participate in engaging activities and workshops to build a strong network on campus, assess their strengths as a leader, learn the best strategies for engaging group members, and understand the dynamics of teamwork.

Registration is required and due on Sunday, September 17.
