UMBC’s Student Events Board announced on Monday that Fetty Wap will be headlining Quadmania this spring. The one-eyed hip-hop artist, whose real name is Willie Maxwell II, is best known for his two hit songs “Trap Queen” and “679.” Student tickets go on sale Wednesday, Feb. 10 at the CIC for $25. They will also be available online. The show is Sunday, April 24, doors are at 7 p.m.
Obama drops by Baltimore County mosque
Sabah Muhtar, a junior biology major, introduced President Obama before a historic speech at the Baltimore Islamic Society. The president said after her introduction, “You are an inspiration. You are going to be a fantastic doctor.” The speech marked President Obama’s first visit to an American Mosque.
UMBC welcomes new library director
Patrick Jose Dawson began work as the new director of the Albin O. Kuhn Library and Gallery last week. Dawson has served as the dean of libraries at Northern Illinois University for the past seven years. He also served as an associate university librarian at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Dawson’s office is in the administrative offices of the library, located on the 3rd floor.
