Involvement Fest Information!
IMPORTANT Information about Involvement Fest
posted almost 11 years ago
Hi everyone! Involvement Fest is tomorrow (Wednesday, January 29th) from 12 until 3. Below is some information to tell everyone at Involvement Fest and the people who signed-up. Make sure there is at least one person at the table and one person manning the robot at all times!
This is the first time Retriever Robotics is going public. Please wear your shirt to support your team! I will have everyone's shirt at the booth. (If you ordered extras, they will have to wait a little longer.) If you are supporting another organization during Involvement Fest, all current members get a RR pin that we can wear over whatever other shirt we are wearing. Let's show our RR pride!
For those who do not know, we have an Involvement Fest robot that any UMBC student (or faculty) can drive around. It has a tablet mounted to it and will Skype our booth at Involvement Fest. My laptop will be used to skype the robot. We will have an excel document open to get the information of new possible members.
Here is everyone who signed up:
Set-Up = Shelby

12:30 - 1 = Alex, Bethany Abbie

RR Purpose
Enhance learning of robotics, encouraging competitive spirit, promoting fellowship and bonding within multidisciplinary fields, and motivating others to engage in STEM fields.
Origin
Planning for RR began Spring 2013, but there were not official meetings until Fall 2013. December 4th, 2013 is when our constitution was officially recognized by UMBC.
What have we done in the past/doing now:
Competition:
-VEX U! It is like VEX for high school, but with 2 robots and at a college level. Our competition is February 7th!
Volunteer/Outreach:
-Supported one of our members by attending his Venture Crew's event at the Baltimore City Robotics Center.
Social:
-Craft day! It was our transition from hardware to software for the VEX U competition. We also prepared for Involvement Fest and made our shirts and buttons!
Why do we do all of this? To promote a community of people passionate about robotics!
This semester plans
Projects:
-Club picked VEX challenges (we decide on a project we want to do, and do it)
-Fix a donated R2D2 robot
-Robotics potato launcher
Volunteer/Outreach:
-FIRST Lego league (FLL) competition volunteer. Competition for elementary/middle school. Date = March 1st
-FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) volunteer. Competition for high school teams. Dates = April 3-5

Themed Meetings:
-3D printing session
-Multi-copter session (octa- , quad-, and hexa- copters)
