    <div class="html-content"><div><strong>2020 Maryland Legislative Fellows Program</strong></div><div><br></div><div><u>About the Program</u></div><div><br></div><div>The Graduate Legislative Fellows Program offers top students in Maryland graduate programs an <span>immersive experience in the legislative process working alongside nonpartisan staff within the </span>Department of Legislative Services (DLS), the professional staff agency for the Maryland General Assembly (MGA). Fellows will work during the General Assembly’s annual 90-day legislative session (Jan – April) and assist legal, fiscal and committee staff with their regular session duties. As a Fellow, you will work directly with policy analysts to help identify and analyze public policy issues and formulate legislative proposals. Your work may include written legal memoranda, fiscal analyses, periodic publications, and briefings to legislative committees.<span> <strong>$2,500 stipend is included.</strong></span></div><div><span><strong><br></strong></span></div><div><div><u>Who Should Apply</u></div><div><strong><br></strong></div><div>Graduate students with a demonstrated interest in pursuing a career in legislative / public policy <span>work should consider the legislative fellowship. Each year over 11,000 students apply and just over 2,000 are selected from hundreds of colleges and universities across the United States. The award secures funding for U.S. students to pursue international graduate study, research, internships, or teaching."</div><div><br></div><div>Included in the list of recipients is recent Spring 2020 M.P.P. graduate <strong>Kiplyn Jones,</strong> who will travel to Jordan to teach English. </div><div><br></div><div>Public Policy's <strong>Prof. John Rennie Short</strong> has been awarded a Faculty Fulbright to conduct research in Southeast Asia on  South China Sea geopolitics.
