Each year, The Shriver Center takes the lead in completing the application for the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll on behalf of the campus. Annually, since 2006, the Honor Roll "highlights the role colleges and universities play in solving community problems and placing more students on a lifelong path of civic engagement by recognizing institutions that achieve meaningful, measureable outcomes in the communities they serve.” UMBC has been selected each year for the Honor Roll (and one year for Honor Roll with Distinction).
If you have led any courses, service projects or civic engagement projects you’d like us to highlight in this year’s application, or that can be included is # of UMBC students who participated in community service, please send them to elgrose1@umbc.edu. Also, feel free to share this information and request with others as you see fit.
The time frame for this year's application is July 1, 2014 through June 30, 2015 (i.e., FY15). So, the projects we highlight for this year’s application would need to have happened during FY15.The deadline for submission of our campus application is June 15. Please think broadly, projects and courses do not have to be labeled service-learning" to be included!
