Psi Chi GBM #4
Our 4th GBM is this coming Monday, March 22 at 12 pm. This will be our first meeting with a guest speaker!!
The guest speaker for this meeting is a UMBC alum! Her name is Jenna and she's a 3rd year student at Towson's school psychology program. She will be talking more about school psychology and what the career entails in Monday's meeting. We hope to see you there! I'm super excited about this meeting!

I know you guys have been waiting a while to hear about our events!
Thanks to all of you who were able to fill out the form. We will have 3 events for the remainder of the semester. If you cannot make it to any of the GBM meetings on Mondays, these events still count towards your membership status. Even if you can come on Monday, you should still come to these events; they will be a fun way to connect with fellow psych students!
- Saturday, April 3rd at 5 pm-- Trivia with gift card prize
- Friday, April 30th at 6 pm-- Virtual escape room
- Thursday, May 13th (time TBA)-- Meditation & study session
Meeting links and info about each event will be emailed before the actual event. For now, put the dates and times on your calendar! :)

I just wanted to let you all know of an interesting event that PSA (Psychology Student Association) has for their meetings this week.
For those of you who might be interested in a career in forensic psychology or criminal justice (or for those who simply like these kinds of things), they have a meeting tomorrow (March 11) from 4-5 pm regarding serial killers from the US.

Student satisfaction in online learning during the COVID-19 Pandemic
Eligible for: Extra Credit OR the chance to win a $50 Amazon gift card
Deadline to register is Friday, Feb 26th
Info:
Participants for this study will engage in a two-session online learning module and complete two forms. The module's topic will be on the portrayal of European history in video games. Participants are expected to dedicate two to three hours to this study. As such, all participants will be eligible to receive up to 2 course credits via Sona (only) OR have the chance to win one of four $50 Amazon gift cards in a raffle.
P.S. There are many psychology faculty that are offering extra credit this semester, such as Dr. Alonso (Shady Grove), Dr. Katencamp, Dr. Scaletti, and others.
Deadline to register is Friday, Feb. 26th.
To be eligible for this study, participants must be at least 18 years old, is a current UMBC undergraduate student, and have access to an electronic device that allows for camera and microphone use in an online classroom (mobile device is OK).

The Children and Families, Schooling and Development Lab is looking for volunteers to participate in a research study investigating the effect of COVID-19 on students��������� academics throughout the Fall 2020 semester. This anonymous, online survey takes about 20 minutes to complete. There are no known risks or discomforts associated with this survey and participation is voluntary. Students enrolled in a psychology course this semester may be eligible to earn extra credit through Sona for participation.

Events ideas for the spring semester
Good afternoon Psi Chi!
Thanks to those who were able to join our first GBM of the semester! Here is the survey link to our social events questionnaire that we mentioned in today's meeting: https://forms.gle/xbbR6jD9xMFXCef66. We'd love to have you fill it out before our next meeting on Feb 22.
For those who couldn't make it today, we welcome your input as well! The social events questionnaire is a survey for us to understand what kind of events you'd like to participate in for this spring semester. Our hope is for the members of Psi Chi to be able to interact and have fun getting to know each other more despite being online. If you have any other ideas or know of any other social events we can do virtually, feel free to add that in the space we have provided. Also, keep a look out for more information about our alternative meeting.
