Here are some new updates happening for this upcoming week!

Event
Our second event, Psi Chi virtual breakout room, is happening on April 30, 2021 at 6 pm. More info and the meeting link will be sent out closer to the date, so keep your eyes peeled! We really hope that this will be a fun and engaging time for you all.

Candidate Nomination and Statements
It is that time of the semester! Today is the day we are starting elections for our new officers for Fall 2021! 

If you are interested in running for a position, please fill out the linked Google form by Thursday, April 29!

In this Google Form, we are collecting name, position of interest, and statements for those of you wanting to run for officer positions. As a reminder, any member can run and no prior experience is needed-- we will show you the ropes!

Attached is a Word Doc listing all the available officer positions and their responsibilities.

Psi Chi Spring 2021 Election Timeline:
  • From 4/22 - 4/29: a Google form will be sent out through myUMBC/email asking members to nominate themselves as candidates and provide their statements for the elections
  • From 4/29 - 5/8: The ballot (Google Form) for the election will be sent out through myUMBC/email for everyone to vote
  • New officers will be notified of their positions the week of 5/9

Happy Spring (even though we have a couple days with colder temperatures)!

Just a couple of quick reminders:
1.  Our first Psi Chi event is happening Saturday, April 3 at 5 pm. We will be hosting a kahoot game full of psychology knowledge that you may remember from some psych classes at UMBC. So come and test your memory for the chance to win a $50 gift card!

2. Our Psi Chi GBM #5 is this upcoming Monday, April 5 at 12 pm! Our second guest speaker will be speaking during this time. Our speaker for Monday is another UMBC alum who is a cognitive behavioral therapist. Her name is Sharmin, and she focuses on therapy for immigrants. GBM #4 Follow-up

For those who weren't able to make it, our speaker (Jenna Guglielmini) sent us her PowerPoint that she used. There is a Bitmoji classroom at the end of the PowerPoint with some resources and school psyc programs that you can check out if you're interested! If you have any questions you'd like to ask her personally, here is her email: jgugli4@students.towson.edu. 

I hope you can take some time to explore more about the field of school psychology! It's an interesting career and definitely in need of more people. It also has really good job prospects, just in case you're curious. Take a look at the PowerPoint to learn more!
