Psi Chi: It's Fall, y'all

Hiii, Psi Chi!
Welcome back to another school year! My name is Brooke Zanti, and I’ll be the secretary of Psi Chi for Fall 2021. I’m super excited to meet you all! To introduce myself… I’m in my 4th year at UMBC, and I’m studying psychology and social work in hopes of going into occupational therapy. I’m also a Psychology Department Writing Fellow and a barista. When I’m not at work or school, you can find me somewhere drinking iced coffee, playing Animal Crossing, and/or reading! I can’t wait to get to know everyone and (hopefully…maybe) see some of you in person soon! :’)
Curious about what Psi Chi will be up to this semester? Here’s some information:
Meetings:
Our first General Body Meeting (GBM) this semester will be held on Friday, September 10th at 3:00pm, and will be held every other Friday at the same time. GBMs will be held virtually via Webex, and we will provide the link to each meeting through email and myUMBC closer to the dates they are held. More information about dates, topics, and more will be coming soon!
Events:
This semester, we want our events to be more interactive and inclusive. Our goal is to get as many of our members (and non-members! Bring your friends!) involved and participating as possible; we want to get to know you and form a Psi Chi family! That said, we want YOUR input! If you have any ideas for events, meeting subjects, or guest speakers that you would like to attend this Fall, feel free to email us and let us know. While our GBMs will likely remain virtual, we plan to hold at least a few in-person events for those who would be comfortable, so all suggestions are welcome.
Involvement Fest:
If you’d like to hear about our plans for the coming weeks, learn more about myself and the other officers, or even just pop in to say hi… you can visit Psi Chi at Involvement Fest! We hope to see you at the in-person Involvement Fest onThursday, September 9th at 12-2pm, or at the virtual Involvement Fest at 6-8pm. You can find more information about Involvement Fest here.

Hi Psi Chi members!
I hope everyone's finals went well! As of today I'm officially signing off as President! I want to say thank you to all of you who participated and made my semester as Psi Chi's President memorable. I hope that you guys will be able to do greater and better things next semester when stuff starts becoming in-person again.
You guys know that our virtual induction was cancelled since we didn't have enough participation, but I still want to recognize our 3 inductees: Colleen Faro, Rachael Kil, and Raissa Makaga! Colleen is the owner of a 10 year old yellow lab named Casey who is her best friend :) Rachael minors in law & justice and loves traveling and trying different foods. And Raissa is the owner of a natural skin/hair care line that she makes herself! Check out her instagram @mkgcosmetic if you have dry crusty skin like me :/ Congrats to you three again!
And lastly I want to say good luck to next semester's officers, especially President and Vice-President Zohaa and Caroline :) You guys will be great and of course I'll still be here supporting you from the sidelines <3

Just wanted to let you all know that the induction ceremony is cancelled for today because we do not have enough people to do a full induction ceremony. However, we will be sending out a certificate to the new members towards the end of finals.
We still have one more chance to see each other at our last event! Studying for finals can be a stressful time, so we have arranged a meditation session for you guys to participate in. Our meditation session will be on Friday, May 14 at 2 pm. Feel free to invite your friends as well!

Psi Chi: Updates!!! and Psi Chi GBM #7
Hello Psi Chi!
I know you've been getting quite a few emails from me lately. Please feel free to contact me if it ever gets overwhelming for you and I will be sure to break down everything!
Firstly, our second EVENT is happening tomorrow (4/30) at 6pm. We will be doing a fun virtual Jumanji breakout room event filled with puzzles and riddles. So if you enjoy these things, come and spend some time with us! Or if you just want to get away from the stress of homework. Also, if you have any jungle themed props, feel free to bring those too!
Also, our 7th, and last, GBM coming up on Monday, May 3 at 12 pm (as always). Our guest speaker rounding off our last GBM of the semester is Dr. Julia Weinberg! She is a forensic psychologist and also does some clinical services. Here is the meeting link!
Some updates regarding our ELECTION PROCESS. We have decided to extend the deadline for candidate nominations and statements to May 5, 2021. We realize that the end of the semester is always a bit hectic and busy, so we are giving you more time to fill out the linked Google form if you are interested in running for a position in Psi Chi. We'd love to see more people get involved and share their ideas for growing Psi Chi!
Last, but not least, INDUCTION is quickly upon us. For new members (Spring 2021 acceptances into Psi Chi; aka you recently got accepted into Psi Chi), we are planning a virtual induction ceremony on Tuesday, May 11 at 5:30 pm to celebrate you joining our community! If you're interested in joining, please fill out this Google form by Saturday, May 8 so we can make a slide for you for Induction day!

- New officers will be notified of their positions the week of 5/9

Hope everyone is doing alright with school so far. I know that I feel like there's just so much work just for the last few weeks of school.
Just a quick reminder that if you're a member and you want to run for office, now's your chance to do so!! You don't need any prior experience and it will look great on your resume! We would love for anyone to join with our board. I'm sure there are amazing ideas out there for how we can grow Psi Chi!
