FRIDAY (9/25) EVENT ALERT
"Show&Tell": What uplifts you when you're feeling stressed?
Good afternoon, Psi Chi!
We hope the start of your week is going well and that you're able to get outside some to enjoy this gorgeous weather!
We will be having our first event this upcoming Friday (9/25) from 3-4pm! It will be a "Show&Tell" of sorts, and we're very excited about it. The "Show&Tell" theme is: What do you turn to/what uplifts you when you're feeling stressed? Does your dog or cat help calm you? Maybe a certain song? A line of poetry? Baking? We can't wait for you to tell us this Friday!
(Note: We were originally planning to have a Netflix Party, but due to the recent release of "Cuties," as well as knowing that some of our members may not have access to Netflix, we have decided to host other events).
Keep a look out for the meeting link! We will be sending it out later this week, most likely on Thursday. We are going to see how using regular WebEx goes for our 1st Alternative Meeting (5-6pm) this Wednesday (9/23) first before committing to the platform again for Friday's event! Please join us for this meeting, too, if you are available!

Today's Meeting Difficulties (+ 1st Alternative Meeting!)

Hi Psi Chi!
Thank you so much to everyone who came to our first GBM today! We are so sorry for the initial technical difficulties with WebEx Teams - thank you for your patience as we learn to better navigate our online environment.
We will most likely no longer be using WebEx Teams for our meetings. Instead, we will be using regular WebEx and post our meeting links to myUMBC as well as send it out to our email list in the hopes that our meetings will be easier to access.

ALTERNATIVE MEETING INFORMATION:
For those of you who were unable to attend today's meeting, we will be holding our first Alternative Meeting of the semester next Wednesday (9/23) from 5-6pm.

who attended Involvement Fest today! If you attended today, your name

receive all upcoming meeting links for Fall 2020 as they are sent out.
(Please see our previous myUMBC post/email about Fall 2020 for all upcoming
meeting dates).
Our first General Body Meeting (GBM 1) is fast approaching! It will be held this upcoming Monday, September 14th from 12-1pm. Our
first meeting will be an introductory meeting and cover various topics,
including: requirements for joining, introducing your Fall 2020
officers, what we have planned this semester, etc.

Welcome Back Psi Chi Fall 2020
Get Ready for the New Semester
Good Morning, Psi Chi!
My name is Zohaa Awan, and I am your new secretary for this Fall 2020 semester. Let me tell you a bit about myself. I am a rising junior and I am studying psychology to become a future Board Certified Behavioral Analyst (BCBA). Photography is one of my favorite hobbies and fortunately, quarantine really allowed me to focus my attention on it. I am very excited to meet everyone...even if it is virtually.

Meetings
Psi Chi meetings will be held virtually (via WebEx) from 12-1pm every other Monday beginning on September 14th. Our WebEx meeting links will be posted on myUMBC and sent through email closer to the date of each meeting.

Alternative Meetings
Psi Chi is planning on holding three alternative meetings throughout the semester for those who are unable to attend our regular GBMs. Please check email and myUMBC updates for alternative meeting times when we post them!
Events
Due to the nature of this semester being completely online, we have been limited to Netflix Parties for our events. The first Netflix Party will be held on Friday, September 25th (time will be announced closer to date).
Maintaining “Active Status” in Fall 2020:
Attend at least three meetings and/or events!
NOTE: typically, fundraising would be required to maintain your “active status,” but that will not be possible due to the virtual nature of this semester.

Fundraising Collaboration with UMBC’s UNICEF Club
Donations due June 29th!
Greetings Psi Chi!
We hope you are having a restful and relaxing summer! UMBC’s UNICEF Club recently reached out to us to see if we wanted to collaborate with them to support the children impacted by the crisis in Yemen, the world’s worst humanitarian crisis. We said yes, of course! Their goal is to reach $2000 and so far, they have raised over $1100! I think we can help them reach their goal and support this incredibly worthy cause. They will also be giving away a raffle basket filled with goodies (UNICEF t-shirt, pins, stickers, candles, etc.). The more you donate, the higher your chance of winning! Donations are due June 29th.
As mentioned above, donations are due June 29th! You can send your donations to UMBC’s UNICEF club via Venmo (@UMBC-UNICEF) or PayPal (sahmahate@gmail.com). As Celena Dang, UMBC UNICEF’s President so beautifully put it, “UMBC is such a kind and giving community, so let's continue to pay it forward.” For more information, feel free to check out their latest posts on Instagram (@umbcunicef).
