<Title>State Health Benefits Open Enrollment Is Ending</Title>

    <div class="html-content"><div>We are in the final week of the State's Open Enrollment period, which will end on <strong>Thursday, November 9 at 5 p.m.</strong> The State will not allow any exceptions or extensions to the Open Enrollment deadline. </div><div><br></div><div>(Please note: the State will be CLOSED on Friday, November 10 in observance of Veterans Day.) </div><div><br></div><div>Thank you to everyone who attended our information sessions and logged in to the <a href="https://hr.umbc.edu/benefits/sps-workday/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">SPS Workday</a> system to review and/or make changes in their Open Enrollment event. </div><div><br></div><div>Below are a few reminders for employees who may still need to take action in their Open Enrollment event for their 2024 health benefits:</div><div><ul><li>Enrollment or changes can be made in the Open Enrollment event in the employee's <a href="https://hr.umbc.edu/accessing-sps-workday/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">SPS Workday account</a>.</li><li><a href="https://wiki.umbc.edu/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=76873757" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">SPS Workday passwords</a> can be reset by clicking the "Forgot Password" link under the <a href="https://stateofmaryland.onelogin.com/login2/?return=eyJ0eXAiOiJKV1QiLCJhbGciOiJIUzI1NiJ9.eyJ1cmkiOiJodHRwczovL3N0YXRlb2ZtYXJ5bGFuZC5vbmVsb2dpbi5jb20vIiwiYXVkIjoiQUNDRVNTIiwiZmZfbXVsdGlwbGVfYnJhbmRzIjpudWxsLCJleHAiOjE2NjcyMjY5ODgsImlzcyI6Ik1PTk9SQUlMIiwicGFyYW1zIjp7fSwiYnJhbmRfaWQiOiJtYXN0ZXIiLCJtZXRob2QiOiJnZXQifQ.okvwgKhZkj5o7dhEaehvHDGDv66EqcDUnEqaoEFj5z8#app=" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Workday login prompt</a>.</li><li>Employees who wish to make elections for a Healthcare or Dependent Daycare Flexible Spending Account for 2024 must enroll or re-enroll via their Open Enrollment event in their <a href="https://stateofmaryland.onelogin.com/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Workday account</a> by <strong>5 p.m. on Thursday, November 9</strong>. </li><li>Employees enrolling new dependents, including domestic partners, must upload the <a href="https://dbm.maryland.gov/benefits/Documents/Dependent%20Documentation%20Requirements%209.25.23.pdf" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">required documentation</a> by <strong>5 p.m. on Thursday, November 9</strong>. </li></ul></div><div><br></div><div>Employees who are <em>not</em> enrolling in a Flexible Spending Account or making any other health benefit changes do not need to take action in their Open Enrollment event. <Title>The 2023 Maryland Charity Campaign Begins Today</Title>

    <div class="html-content"><span><p><span>Welcome to UMBC's 2023 Maryland Charity Campaign (MCC). Each year, faculty and staff join their colleagues across the state to support local nonprofits that serve those in need in our communities.</span></p><br><p><span>Last year, the state raised almost $2,000,000 to support local nonprofits. At UMBC, more than 700 faculty and staff donated over $240,000. Your generosity allowed UMBC to once more be one of the top contributing organizations across all state agencies and University System of Maryland campuses. </span></p><br><p><span>You can participate in the campaign by </span><a href="https://mcc.umbc.edu/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo"><span>giving online</span></a><span>. Make your donation using Maryland's secure online portal through payroll deduction or credit card. The portal also provides instructions on how to designate a nonprofit to receive your donation. If you would like, you can also donate to the UMBC Foundation through the MCC portal, to support our students in need.</span></p><br><p><span>In the coming weeks, you will hear from your department's MCC coordinator. They will provide more information about how to get involved and what inspires them to give. <Title>State Health Benefits Open Enrollment</Title>

    <div class="html-content"><div>Dear Colleagues, </div><div><br></div><div>Open Enrollment for State Health Benefits begins today, <strong>October 16</strong>, and will be open through 5 p.m. on <strong>Thursday, November 9</strong>. Employees who are not making any health benefit changes do not need to take action. However, if you wish to continue a healthcare and/or dependent daycare flexible spending account (FSA), you must re-enroll in your Open Enrollment event. </div><div><br></div><div>During Open Enrollment, employees can enroll in and/or make changes to their health benefits to become effective on January 1, 2024. The State of Maryland will send out important emails via the SPS Workday system (<a href="mailto:stateofmaryland@myworkday.com">stateofmaryland@myworkday.com</a>) regarding Open Enrollment. </div><div><br></div><div><strong>Open Enrollment will continue to be online in the SPS Workday system.</strong> For more information on the SPS Workday system, employees should visit the HR website for <a href="https://hr.umbc.edu/accessing-sps-workday/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">detailed instructions</a> on accessing their Workday account. Discover incentives and find out what's new for the State's 2024 <a href="https://dbm.maryland.gov/benefits/Documents/WPR24%20Wellness%20Plan%20Activities.pdf" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Wellness Program</a>.</div><div><br></div><div>We are pleased to announce that all existing plans and vendors will remain in place for 2024. However, the State has passed along rate changes that will impact the medical, prescription, and dental plans in 2024. CareFirst, United Healthcare, and Kaiser medical plan rates will increase approximately 9.5 percent. CVS Caremark Prescription plan rates will increase 9 percent. Dental plan rates will increase 9.5 percent. The State MetLife term life insurance and Accidental Death and Dismemberment coverages will experience no rate increases in 2024. Open Enrollment rates and materials are posted on the <a href="https://hr.umbc.edu/benefits/open-enrollment/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">HR Open Enrollment website</a>. </div><div><br></div><div>Also new for 2024: Employees can now enroll eligible <strong>Domestic Partners</strong> and their dependents during Open Enrollment. The effective date of coverage will be January 1, 2024. Employees must enroll and submit documentation for their Domestic Partners and their dependents during Open Enrollment. More information about the documentation required will soon be available on the <a href="https://hr.umbc.edu/benefits/open-enrollment/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">HR Open Enrollment website</a>. </div><div><br></div><div>The Human Resources Benefits team will host a live, virtual Open Enrollment Information Session via Webex on <a href="https://my3.my.umbc.edu/groups/training/posts/136128" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">October 18 at 10 a.m.</a> Employees who are unable to attend the live session will be able to view a recording that will be posted on the <a href="https://hr.umbc.edu/information-sessions/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Virtual Resources page</a> on or around October 27.</div><div><br></div><div>Please contact the HR Benefits team with any questions at <a href="mailto:hrbenefits@umbc.edu">hrbenefits@umbc.edu</a>. </div><div><br></div><div><em>HR Benefits &amp; Wellness team</em></div></div>
