<Title>University System of Maryland Shared Governance Survey</Title>

    <div class="html-content"><div><div>Dear Colleagues, </div><div><br></div><div>On behalf of the Council of University System Staff (CUSS) and the Council of University System Faculty (CUSF), we are seeking your participation in a brief survey to gauge your awareness of and the strengths and growth opportunities for shared governance efforts on your campus and within the University System of Maryland. When functioning properly, shared governance, for those who are unaware, is a system where committee(s) of faculty, staff, and students advise campus/system leadership on policies/procedures/issues, giving a voice to all three groups. </div><div><br></div><div>This survey is anonymous (the survey platform will not collect any identifying information from respondents, including IP and email addresses) and should take no more than five minutes to complete. The responses of this survey will be analyzed, aggregated, and shared with the leadership both on your campus and at the University System of Maryland. </div><div><br></div><div>The deadline for responses is June 21, 2024. <Title>Fiscal Year 2025 Salary Guidelines</Title>

    <div class="html-content"><div>Dear Colleagues,</div><div><br></div><div>We are writing to share with you the Fiscal Year 2025 salary guidelines, aligned with those received from the University System of Maryland for faculty and staff in Regular and Contingent II positions, together with UMBC's plan for implementing those guidelines.</div><div><br></div><div><strong>Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA)</strong></div><div><br></div><div>All Regular faculty and staff, Contingent II staff, and graduate assistants will receive a 3 percent COLA increase, effective July 1, 2024. Eligible employees must have been on the university payroll since June 30, 2024, to be eligible for the COLA.</div><div><br></div><div><strong>Merit Increases</strong></div><div><br></div><div>A 2.5 percent merit pool, effective July 1, 2024, will be distributed to each division and applies to Regular faculty and staff and Contingent II staff. Merit increases will be based on a PMP overall rating of "effective" or better for the rating period of April 1, 2023, through March 31, 2024 (if a PMP was not submitted for an eligible employee for that period, the overall rating will be considered "effective").</div><div><br></div><div>Regular nonexempt staff must have completed original and/or promotional probation by June 30, 2024, to be eligible for the merit increase. Nonexempt staff on original and/or promotional probation will receive a 2.5 percent increase upon their successful completion of the probationary period.</div><div><br></div><div>Regular exempt staff must have been in an eligible position prior to January 15, 2024, to be considered for a merit increase.</div><div><br></div><div>Contingent II staff must have been in an eligible position prior to January 1, 2024, (nonexempt staff) or January 15, 2024, (exempt staff) to be considered for a merit increase.</div><div><br></div><div>Regular faculty must have accepted an offer prior to January 15, 2024, to be eligible for a merit increase.</div><div><br></div><div><strong>Adjunct Increases</strong></div><div><br></div><div>Adjunct faculty, who are employed on a course-by-course basis will receive a 3 percent increase over their Academic Year 2023 – 2024 per course payment rates upon contract renewal. The college standard rates will be increased 3 percent as well.</div><div><br></div><div>If you have questions or need additional guidance, please consult your supervisor. <Title>Join a Leadership Development Cohort</Title>
<Tagline>For new and existing managers to gain skills</Tagline>

    <div class="html-content"><div>Dear Colleagues,</div><div><br></div><div>As UMBC continues to grow as a leader in the higher education space, it is critical that we retain our best people. Effective leadership is key to this imperative. The Human Resources and Strategic Talent Management department is excited to announce the launch of our LEAP Leadership Development Academy this August 2024!</div><div><br></div><div>LEAP Academy is a five-month leadership development cohort program for new people managers and/or existing supervisors who need a tune-up on today’s critical managerial competencies to better support their team. The program runs from August to December and features in-person instructional sessions, virtual team coaching sessions, and an All-Access Pass to FranklinCovey’s Impact Portal, where participants can access course content and additional supervisory resources.</div><div><br></div><div><a href="https://docs.google.com/document/d/16L6dxK0e9RpSYWl3vr1zuIMxSR8FSVkYH9iohiFwxwg/edit?usp=sharing" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Please review the full overview</a> and choose the cohort that works best for your schedule. Each cohort is run separately as its own intact group; no switching is permitted.</div><div><br></div><div>The LEAP nomination process is both a self-selected process and supervisor/leader-nominated program. Individuals who self-select must obtain supervisor support to attend. Full participation is required. Leaders may nominate their people, but nominees must apply themselves.</div><div><br></div><div><a href="https://forms.gle/Bak3Vkhrh9QRNvB37" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">The application deadline is June 14, 2024.</a> Candidates will be notified by July 1, 2024.     <div class="html-content"><div>Dear Colleagues,</div><div><br></div><div>As we continue to evolve as an institution, knowing how to make sense of and effectively navigate change is a critical competency that we must master. People are at the heart of change and are often the lynchpin that leads to change success or failure. UMBC is grateful for the continued partnership with FranklinCovey in rolling out their signature change program, Change: How to Turn Uncertainty Into Opportunity.</div><div><br></div><div>This spring we are continuing to offer a variety of sessions for different populations to engage in this learning. Each is focused on the human side of change, providing the practical skills and common language to navigate and/or lead change.
