The Law School Admissions Council (LSAC) is honored to partner with the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund (LDF) to promote the Marshall-Motley Scholars Program (MMSP).

Named in honor of civil rights pioneers Thurgood Marshall and Constance Baker Motley, this groundbreaking program provides a full law school scholarship for tuition, room and board, and incidentals, along with long-term career and leadership opportunities, for 50 aspiring civil rights lawyers (over the next five years) who will advocate alongside Black communities in the American South.

The Council on Legal Education Opportunity, Inc. (CLEO) is a 501(c)(3) national non-profit organization founded in 1968 to expand opportunities for underrepresented students to attend law school.

Join Maryland Carey Law admissions officers for a workshop about how to craft a winning personal statement.  They will discuss the do's and don'ts in personal statements and provide examples of how to make this important piece of your application stand out.

Learn from diverse alumni, students, administrators, and faculty who will share their experiences navigating the pathways to the law school and the legal profession. 

The Center for Democracy and Civic Life's Change Makers Dinner brings UMBC students (both undergraduate and graduate), faculty, staff, and alumni together for guided small-group conversations with leaders who are making a difference in their communities. 

You will have the opportunity to hear from these Change Makers and explore ways to get involved in addressing the topic at hand. A catered dinner will be provided.

Meet Jonathan Glick, Esq., Director of Admissions, University of Maryland Carey School of Law, to learn more about applying to law school and the J.D. program at Maryland Carey Law.   

Jonathan will give a presentation on the law school application process, what admissions committees look for when reviewing applications, and application timelines.  Jonathan will also be available to answer any questions you have about the admissions process.

Scott Whittier has been a lawyer for 30 years (and he teaches in UMBC's Department of Information Systems).  He is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law, and has practiced law in a variety of contexts: at a big D.C. law firm, in-house at a large corporation, and now at the World Wildlife Fund. 

Professor Whittier will have a conversation with us, hearing your thoughts and questions about law school, your legal career, etc., and sharing ideas about charting your career path and finding your place in the law.
