The Office of Opinion Research (OPN) at the U.S. Department of State has
undergraduate and graduate student internship opportunities for the fall
of 2015. OPN conducts polls in more than 100 countries worldwide and
provides information about global public opinion to policymakers at the
State Department and across the government. Interns will assist analysts
in all aspects of this work, including: questionnaire design; data quality
checks; and analyzing, reporting, and briefing the data to policymakers.
In addition to strong data skills and experience with public opinion
research, a strong regional interest is preferable, as interns will be
assigned based on this background to a regional division within the
office.

Intelligence and Research, Office of Opinion Research. Applicants must be

Hi Everyone,

The membership drive for Pi Sigma Alpha is now open. Pi Sigma Alpha is the National Political Science Honor Society. To qualify for membership, students must have completed at least 60 credits (have junior standing). Ten of the 60 credits must be in Political Science, and one upper level Political Science course must be completed as well. The average grades among the Political Science courses must be a B (3.0). In addition, students with junior standing must have a GPA of at least 3.1 and seniors must have a GPA of at least 3.3. A student need not be a Political Science major in order to apply.

If you are interested, please print out the attached application, fill it out and return it with a check for the appropriate amount (see attached) to Carolyn Forestiere's mailbox in the Political Science Department.

Hi Everyone,
I would like to bring your attention to some possibilities that you have to present research papers you may have hiding in your computers.

1) Pi Sigma Alpha Undergraduate Research Conference at UMBC
This year Pi Sigma Alpha (the national political science honors society) will host an undergraduate research conference for students to present work they have done in Political Science. The work can be an independent study you have completed or something you have completed for a class you have taken at UMBC or elsewhere. Students who participate in the conference present their work on large posters that will be displayed on Wednesday APRIL 15, 2015 from 11am to 1pm. It is a fun opportunity for students to present their work to faculty and students in Political Science in a smaller environment. 2) Undergraduate Research and Creative Achievement Day (URCAD)
URCAD is a wonderful day on our campus when hundreds of students present their work as either poster or oral presentations. This year URCAD is on April 22nd. Any work you have done in Political Science can be presented as a poster or oral presentation. Please participate if you are interested. Work 15 hours per week at a law office
Take a class with other interns, POLI 438 (Monday 4:30 – 7:00)
Earn up to seven (7) 400-level credits

Juniors and seniors from all majors with GPAs of 3.0 and higher are eligible.
