<Title>Global Conflict Non-Profit Looking For Volunteers</Title>

    <div class="html-content"><div><br></div><div><p>Airwars is a not-for-profit transparency watchdog which tracks, assesses, archives and investigates civilian harm claims resulting primarily from explosive weapons use in conflict-affected nations including Iraq, Syria, Libya, Somalia and Yemen. We also work with militaries, where practicable, to help improve understanding of civilian harm with the aim of reducing battlefield casualties.</p><p>Founded in 2014, we are today a leading authority on conflict violence as it affects civilian communities. Our international team has monitored more than 30 belligerents across six conflict countries and to date has tracked almost 60,000 locally alleged civilian deaths.</p><p>Headquartered in the UK, Airwars is affiliated with the Department of Media and Communications at Goldsmiths, University of London. Our subsidiary organisation Airwars Stichting is registered as a not for profit in the Netherlands, which is also home to our satellite European office in Utrecht.     <div class="html-content"><div>The UMBC Cancer Awareness Society is hosting <strong>Relay for Life on Friday, May 6th from 1 to 7 pm</strong> at UMBC in partnership with the Shriver Center, Residential Student Association, UMBC Police, and other campus departments. <strong>We would like to formally invite all POLI students, faculty, staff, and related organizations to join the Political Science Council of Majors' team for the event.</strong> Participants may sign up individually, form their own team, or join an existing team. The registration fee is $15 and participants can sign up at <a href="http://relayforlife.org/umbc" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">relayforlife.org/umbc</a></div><div><br></div><div>Relay for Life is a nationwide event that is used to raise money for cancer research for the American Cancer Society. The event itself is typically overnight with yard games, special ceremonies, and small competitions and games. We relay or walk around the track in support of those who have been impacted by cancer in any way (survivors, caregivers, etc.). The event's slogan is "cancer doesn't sleep so we won't either" so we require one person from each team to stay walking on the track at all hours of the event. <Title>PAID Student Internship with US District Court</Title>

    <div class="html-content"><div>Pay: 19.16 per hour </div><div><br></div><div>The United States District Court for the District of Maryland is accepting applications for a one-year term student internship as part of the Model Intern Diversity Pilot Program offered through the Administrative Office of the United States Courts. This program is built on a foundation of diversity and innovation and exists to expose, develop and place talented and underserved undergraduate students in paid internships in federal courts around the country, and prepares them for future employment opportunities within the federal judiciary.</div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div>This unique, year-long internship is being offered to rising junior and senior undergraduate students and will be headquartered at either Baltimore or Greenbelt Maryland. The incumbent will work full-time (no more than 40-hours/week) during the summer semester and part-time (no more than 20-hours/week) during the Fall and Spring semesters. The incumbent will report directly to a U.S. District Judge and will work directly with federal judicial officers, court unit executives, federal practitioners, law enforcement officers, and other court-system professionals, performing or assisting in the performance of a variety of judicial, legal, and/or administrative functions within the federal judiciary.</div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><div>Application Instructions:</div><div>Qualified persons must submit the following:</div><div>1.     <div class="html-content">A huge congrats to Haleemat and to Rehman Liaqat who was a finalist for the scholarship <div><br></div><div><p>The Foundation selected recipients from a pool of over 700 applicants who showed a strong record of public service and also submitted a policy proposal addressing a concerning issue in society. Scholars receive $30,000 to attend the graduate school of their choice, as well as access to public service programs, mentorship, and job opportunities within the federal government.</p><p>"It is an honor and a pleasure to know that I have been named a 2022 Truman Scholar. All I can say is Glory be to God and to my village, thank you forever," says Adekoya. <Title>Poli Sci major Farah Helal named USM Student Regent</Title>

    <div class="html-content"><p><span><strong><a href="https://governor.maryland.gov/2022/02/18/governor-hogan-submits-131-green-bag-appointments/" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Governor Hogan announced Farah Helal's</a></strong></span> appointment to the USM Board of Regents as a student regent in February and she was formally confirmed in March. She will serve as one of two USM student regents from July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2024, including as a voting member during her second year. </p><p>Helal will represent the USM student voice in meetings and committees working on issues that impact the system's twelve institutions. Key topics involve setting tuition and fee rates, approving new degree programs, and approving capital and operating budgets. </p><p><br></p><p>We are so proud of Farah's dedication and commitment to students and public service </p><p><br></p></div>
