<Title>Interdisciplinary Undergraduate Training in Biology and Math</Title>

    <div class="html-content">Undergraduates at the University of Maryland Baltimore County
                     are invited to apply to the <strong>U</strong>ndergraduate interdisciplinary
                     training program in <strong>B</strong>iology and <strong>M</strong>athematics (<strong>UBM</strong>)
                      during the 2012-2014 academic years. Applicants must be majors
                     in biology, bioinformatics, biochemistry, mathematics or statistics.
                      They must also be in their sophomore or junior year. If you
                     are accepted and choose to join the UBM program, you commit
                     to the  following:
                     <ul>
    <li>Participation in the program for two years (Fall 2012 thru Spring 2014) </li>
    <li>Participation in a full time 10-week summer research program in the summer
        of 2013 </li>
    <li>Participation in an interdisciplinary research project part time during fall and spring semesters </li>
    <li>Participation in a bi-weekly biomathematics journal club during the academic years you participate in the program </li>
    <li>Depending on course background, students may be asked to complete at least two additional courses in mathematics/statistics 
        or biology (in a discipline outside of the major) </li>
    </ul>
    Student benefits include student stipends for each semester they are in the program (including full time summer support, 
    summer housing and meals), travel money to present their research at a national meeting, travel support for field trips/team

    <span>Have you obtained a great  </span><span>internship or research opportunity for the Spring 2012 semester, but have no idea how  </span><span>to get credit for it?  Are you simply looking to have it noted on your </span><span>transcript for that all-important Grad School or employment </span><span>application? </span><div><div>
    <br><span>Never fear - The Shriver Center is here to help!<br><br></span>Your position is important to obtain admission to graduate school and to find employment after graduation. In addition to that experience and possibly earning pay, you can also get your internship or research noted on your transcript which will help you stand out from the competition when applying for post-graduation jobs and graduate study.  However you must act fast because the deadline to add is July 12th.<br><br>Many students can also potentially obtain three upper level credits by interning only 10 to 12 hours per week.     <p>The Walden Circle Community Center is a community-based
    youth outreach program located in the nearby Woodlawn neighborhood and is a
    longstanding partner of the Shriver Center at UMBC.<span>  </span>The Service-Learning Intern will serve as a youth supervisor
    with some leadership, programmatic, and planning responsibilities during the
    Community Center’s 6-week summer camp.<span> 
    </span>More specifically, the intern is expected to:</p>
    
    <p> </p>
    
    <p><span><span>·<span>     
    </span></span></span>Supervise daily activities with the children
    helping with group activities, snacks, lunch, occasional field trips, etc.</p>
    
    <p><span><span>·<span>     
    </span></span></span>Manage high school volunteer counselors to
    ensure professionalism and smooth operation of the camp.</p>
    
    <p><span><span>·<span>     
    </span></span></span>Help in creating the daily programming for the
    summer camp.</p>

    <p><strong>Position Commitment:</strong></p>
    
    <p>The internship will consists of 7 hours per day from 9am-4pm
    Monday through Friday beginning June 25<sup>th</sup> and ending August 3<sup>rd</sup>
    (July 4-6 will be a holiday).</p>

    <p><strong>Compensation:</strong></p>
    
    <p>A stipend of $2,000 is provided for the Service-Learning
    Intern in this position.<span> 
    </span>Additionally, the Service-Learning Intern will be enrolled in the 096
    Practicum, enabling this student to receive a “Service-Learning Leadership”
    notation on her/his transcript.</p>

Help engineers size valves, dampers, select control parts and layout of automation Energy Management System panels. Prepare design documents for distribution to contractors and clients.     <p><span>We are looking for a Software Engineering Intern
    to support a NASA program which involves the maintenance and evolution of the
    EOSDIS ECS system. The ECS system ingests, distributes, and stores on-line
    earth science data. This system is currently operational at 3 NASA Data
    Centers.<span>  </span>The system runs on a Linux
    platform and is implemented largely in Java and C++.<span>  </span>The ideal candidate will be a highly
    enthusiastic team member excited about learning new technologies and
    continually evolving an operational system.</span></p>
