Walker Avenue Garage Gate Replacement
Project Expected to be Completed this Week
The gate at the Walker Avenue Garage is being replaced this week. This gate separates the E (Staff Gated ) portion of the Walker Avenue Garage from the remainder of the garage.
The gate was previously damaged and has remained up. This project is expected to be completed by the end of the week. Please note, the repairs will not interfere with your ability to park in your normal zone this week.
Parking Services will be reaching out to those who park in the gated portion of this garage to arrange for you to get the new access card. We appreciate your patience with these repairs.

BGE Natural Gas Line Replacement Near True Grit's & Lot 11
Campus Impacts: July 13th, 2022 through July 29th, 2022
Baltimore Gas & Electric will be replacing an existing gas line near lot 11 and True Grit's beginning this Wednesday, July 13th, 2022. The work will improve the reliability of gas service in the area and requires the closure of lot 11 and an adjacent sidewalk Wednesday, July 13th, 2022, through Monday, July 18th, 2022. Additionally, the sidewalk between True Grit's and Susquehanna Hall will be partially closed Wednesday, July 13th, 2022, through Friday, July 29th, 2022. All closures will be identified with construction barriers and temporary signage will be installed throughout the area to guide pedestrians and vehicles. All building entrances/exits will remain open during this time. Please see graphic for more detail on these impacts.

Lot 28 to be Closed June 4
Lot Closed in Preparation of Dr. Hrabowski's Celebration
As UMBC prepares to honor the Dr. Hrabowski this Saturday, certain activities and prep must take place. As a result, Lot 28 will be closed on Saturday, June 4.
Please plan accordingly if you usually utilize this lot. Other options on Saturday include the Stadium Lot, Commons Garage and Lot 1.

Additionally, visitors to the campus who park in the Pay-to-Park lots will also be required to pay or to enter a parking code. This policy will be in effect from 8 AM to 4 PM, Monday through Friday.

As we come to the end of the 2021-22 Spring Semester it is
now time to announce the parking plans for the summer of 2022. A couple
changes have been instituted for this summer.
Effective Friday, May 27, Student Permits (A, B, C and F) will
be valid for any A, B or C Zone Space. This
will be effective through August 14. Students who will be taking classes at
UMBC this summer for the first time (who have paid the required University
fees) will be able to visit the UMBC Parking Portal (umbc.nupark.com/portal)
and register their vehicle and get a permit. Please note, new student permits
will be available May 27.
Individuals who will be summer staff/interns will be able to
purchase a Summer Staff/Intern Permit for $40 and this will allow them to park
in any A, B or C Zone space for the summer. Payment must be made in the Parking
Services office with cash or check. Office hours are Monday through Friday from
8 AM to 4 PM. Please click here

Staff and faculty members will be expected to park in their
assigned zones during the summer. This is a change from previous policy. Those
who park in any zone other than their assigned zone will be subject to
citations.

UMBC’s Newest Parking Lot Requires Permits Effective Monday
Lot 31 Open to Anyone with A, B, C, D or E Permits
Lot 31 is UMBC’s newest parking lot and is located at the old Baltimore County Courthouse across from the Baltimore County Police Barracks and behind the Walker Avenue Apartments. The courthouse was acquired from the State of Maryland to expand our capacity in high-demand academic programs.
We recently installed signage indicating that a permit was required to park in this lot. Effective Monday, May 16, the Courthouse Lot, Lot 31, will be monitored similarly to all other lots on campus and we will be issuing citations. Those parking in that lot without an A, B, C, D or E Permit will receive warnings and/or citations.

Top Level of Administration Garage Closed Today
Special Event to Utilize Pay-to-Park Section of Garage
The top level of the Administration Garage (Pay-to-Park portion) will be closed today through at least the early portion of the afternoon for a special event.
If you have visitors attending the University today, please contact them and let them know they will need to park in the Commons Garage, Walker Avenue Garage or Lots 7 and 9.

One of our big focuses going forward is utilizing bicycles instead of cars. We will host our 1st Annual Bike to Work Day Pit Stop on May 20th from 7AM to 9AM at OCA Mocha in Arbutus.
We will be giving away prizes including bike locks, repair kits, water bottles, and more. Highlights of the event include a visit from Chip, snacks, and all that OCA Mocha has to offer. We will also have a representative of the Cycle Mill there to answer any biking and repair questions.
