Commencement Ceremonies Wednesday and Thursday
Plan Ahead for Increased Traffic/Parking Demands on Campus
UMBC will be hosting two commencement ceremonies this week. The Graduate School Commencement will be held on Wednesday at 10 AM. and the Undergraduate Commencement will be held on Thursday at 10 AM. Both events will be at the Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena.
Please consider alternate parking locations if you typically park near the Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena. Parking around the arena will be open to those attending commencement and will be more congested than normal. Faculty, staff and students can expect heavier than normal traffic both days.

This closure will not effect the lower gated level. Additionally, all accessible spaces will be available for visitors.

First-year resident students with cars at the Satellite Lot must move their vehicles to the Stadium Lot by 11:59 PM on December 12th. Beginning this afternoon at 4PM, they may park their vehicles in the Stadium Lot.
First-year resident students will be allowed to keep their vehicles in the Stadium Lot through the winter session (December 9 – January 29). Parking Services will contact first-year residents regarding the spring in mid-January.

Special Event to Close 40 Spaces in Administration Garage
Spaces Closed This Thursday, December 8
Tomorrow, December 8, UMBC Parking Services will be closing 40 spaces on the top level of the Administration Garage for a special event. This closure will be for the entire day.

Food For Fines
Say Goodbye to a Citation When You Donate Five Items
One of the saddest statistics you will hear today is approximately one out of every three college students in America suffers from food insecurity. This is a startling statistic and one that needs to be corrected.
UMBC's Retriever Essentials and Parking Services are teaming up for Food for Fines. This program was created to collect food and toiletries for UMBC students facing food insecurity.
How does it work? From November 7-18, simply bring in five or more items from the attached list and we will reduce one active citation to a warning (the citation must be $40 or less). Previously paid citations are not eligible. All donations must be made at the Parking Services offices from 8 AM to 4 PM, Monday thru Friday by November 18.
Don't have any citations? We are happy to accept any and all donations. We just ask that your items be unopened and non-expired.
College is hard enough to manage without dealing with hunger. Your help can mean so much to so many students.

The 60 spots in the Administration Drive Garage will be closed all day on Thursday and will reopen on Friday. Those who need to use visitor's spots can utilize the Commons Garage, Walker Avenue Garage, and Lots 7 & 9 during the closure.

Many students find they are better off leaving their cars home. They connect with other students and get involved in campus programs.
However, from time to time, they might need access to a vehicle for a couple hours to run a couple errands or head to a doctor’s appointment. ZipCar is the just resource they need.
Students can rent a vehicle for as little as one hour. Not 25? No worries, ZipCar was established for those from ages 18-25. Your rental agreement includes insurance. Running low on gas? Use the ZipCar gas card included with the vehicle and pay nothing for gas. We simply ask you leave it with at least a quarter tank.
Cars are conveniently located on campus at the Administration Garage, Center Road and Walker Avenue. ZipCar is a great alternative to bringing a car to campus. For more information, please visit the UMBC ZipCar Page.

Join Us for Carpool Day - Thursday, October 6
Fun Activities Planned Throughout the Day
Parking Services will be celebrating Carpool Day on Thursday, October 6. This will be your opportunity to sign-up to park in the Carpool Lot (Lot 4).
Why would you want to do this? This is your opportunity to park close to the center of campus. It's your chance to commute to campus with friends and save gas and wear and tear on your vehicle. You will also be helping lower our carbon footprint. Carpool Permits are available to any two or more commuter students who ride to campus together.
Highlights for the Day Include:
8 AM until we run out --- FREE Donuts
12 Noon - 1 PM - Meet and Greet with Officer Chip
- Free Snacks
All events will occur in Lot 4 (The Carpool Lot). Tired of circling the top lots for parking? This is your chance to pull into an open spot.
